Many thanks, Guys. I really appreciate it! @Martind - No worries, Mate! I know you have been busy as well. If the Mrs. hadn't prepared a traditional Phillipine dish for birthday's I may have missed it as well.

Hello, and welcome aboard! First let's answer the most important question, the game and the server is not dying! How much activity you see depends on the day of the week, time of day and time of year. Lots of players are students. Now that most schools are out there will be more on the server. There are over13,000 members in the community and more joining every day. Also a lot of players are waiting for the new mod to come out. Take the time to load up CF1.9 and play it. 2.0 will be more challenging! Lots of changes, additions, improvements, etc, etc... You can join and search this forum for information and also Moddb. On here there is a thread called "Preview". So stay around and spread the word, you won't be sorry and you will have fun!

Thanks for the info Poopstein. It would seem this issue of yours has a common ring to it. MS made updates to Win 7 awhile back and that caused problems. AVG also made updates, but while others had issues I didn't and that is because the rules I had in place were not ignored so all was well. I guess one might have to make common practice that anytime there is an update to your OS, AV, or Anti-Malware, that you check and make sure the custom rules for exclusions and exceptions are still in place and working. Glad you got a handle on that so that can play on!

You shouldn't have to reload you Op system. But since you made the attempt to yesterday the only fix now is to uninstall FL, and FLMM which will include the CF 1.9 mod. Once that is all done, make sure that the Freelance directory is also deleted. Use your "find" function in the "start" to search for Freelancer, FLMM and Crossfire 1.9. A word of caution, look at each file carefully to make sure you aren't deleting a file that YOU created for something else, like maybe a backup of your original FL installation. Once you have done that, run Ccleaner, both the Cleaner and the Registry tools. You will be surprised at what gets left behind. Once that is done, reboot you PC. Then follow the directions that Martind_Forlon posted earlier. Keep in mind his advise to make a copy of your freelancer installation before you activate and store it somewhere it won't inadvertently get deleted. I have seen your problem you last listed and it is due to files that are broken. Most of that can be prevented by removing the "read only" protection on the Freelancer and FLMM directory's prior to installing the mod into FLMM. I also remove the "read only" from the Mod directory as well after it is installed but before it is activated. Hope this works out for you. Good Luck~

Welcome back!

Poopstein in short, yes. Open you AV and there should be a sub-menu selection list and the exclusions list should be listed. If your AV has multiple components then there may be a list for each component. Ensure that Freelance, Crossfire 1.9 and Freelancer Mod Manager (FLMM) are listed. Your AV should show you the specific format that you have to use to add them. Good Luck!

Hi Poopstein. Quick question, after reading this thread over I didn't see an answer to my question, which is: is the FLMM that you are installing one that you have had on the PC for awhile or is it a fresh download? I had issues with mine awhile back (different than yours) and started to suspect that my DL was corrupted. I dumped (delete) the DL I had and downloaded a new one. Issues resolved. Just something to check if you haven't already. Good Luck!

Hi Daverin! Welcome back. With regards to the launcher. There were/are some issues with it but those have been dealt with by the new launcher that will be part of 2.0. In the meantime, as a gentle reminder, you do have to let the launcher complete it loading and updating. When I would get the "stopped working" message I would hit the kill button, let MS Win look for a solution and then finding none close the app down. I would then immediately relaunch and 9 out of 10 times it runs right up with no issues. Just something to try. I am currently not on the server while we work on 2.0 but will see you there when we are done.

It those kinds of issues with Win 8 that most recommendations are to stay with Win 7 which is more flexible and user friendly then Win 8 will ever be.

Yep, logging on at 21:37 on a Monday night you might be the only one around for awhile. Once school is out it will pick up some. Those that work only get on during their off time. Getting on around 16:00 your time you should find some folks around. If you check the Events forum you will see the times that folks will be around for those. Depends a lot on the day of the week also. I know if you give it a few more hours you will start seeing folks in HI or the Far East showing up.

This should answer your question about posting screenshots: index.php?page=FaqDetail&category=2#question93 The info at the beginning of this thread had the info needed to add your graphics card.

Welcome aboard kaboth! Was that error msg when you first started the game after activating the mod? When you first start, the Launcher window opens and it starts to download any patches needed and the new launcher. Since this will be the first time in a long while, it will take a little time. Once it is done you should see the SP, MP and Settings buttons. For now don't mess with the Settings button and use only the SP and MP buttons.

Wonder if they meant Chris Roberts who has nothing to do with Crossfire? It was obvious from their second reply they don't care about the International Copyright laws. They already have the "documents" in question in the form of the "Users Agreement" they had to acknowledge to download to start with!
