On the process of deinstalling-reinstalling FL, FLMM and CF I observed the following:

even if I erased all files referring to FL or CF I could think of (MyGames, Programfiles, Programms, microsoft, microsoft games, etc.) on istallation of FL plain I don't get the FL desktop icon the pilots helmet) but the CF logo.

    Why ?

    Have I forgotten something ?

There're no problems with the installation. It's really just out of curiosity.

Yes, CF is worth the effort. it dosent seem like this in the start but but the real game starts only once u get to a high enough level with a good enough ship.

"PR-language", might be good for the start on an advertisment somewhere else or on a "sticky"-thread

Then all the other mods the INCLUDING Discovery Mod seem worthless

The kind of "advertising" DISCO-people do. Should it be the way for CF ?

And about the length of the installation , you install it just ONCE and you can play it both SP and MP.

I referred not to change between SP and MP, which is strickingly easy, but to "mod-hopping":

playing perhaps abit on the server, than changing to BigDaddy for some additional sparring before returning to the next event.
Taking a "holiday" and visit some of the partialy weird system layout in FrontierSpace
Or preparing yourself for the next long cinema-StarWars-night with some rounds on XWA-OuterRim.
    Or...
    Or...

This kind of mod-hopping, easily done over FLMM (even though it might sucks in otherways, as stated elswhere by OP)

    EDIT:

    PR-language: PUBLIC RELATIONS

or the ability of a politician to talk you into buying him;that he will hold the climatic change, let you have your monster-truck AND will secure the savings of your grandma

After deleting my charcter on the starting screen for multiplayer, then deinstaling-reinstaling everything properly (with deleting every savegame, screenshot etc.),

choosing a new "LOOK" for my char ,something other than the cool tattooed "Crossfire Trent",

on char-creation, when connecting to the server

    I -again- got the maui-tattooy Trent.8o 8o What's I'm doing wrong ?

"spoiler info", improved roleplay, what they don't seem so interested in (otherwise they would atready be on the server) .

That there is something to gain for them, despite the inconvenience of the rather lenghty installation procedure.

Many people have several FL-mods installed on their PC. And from time to time they switch by deactivating the one mod in FLMM easily and activating another
mod in FLMM as easy. And that's NOT possible with CF other than go trouhgh the whole deinstal-reinstal-deinstal-reinstal procedure for about 1 1/2 hours.

After you've done this once, you think twice, if it's worth the effort before doing it again - especially, if there is a wide array of other mods you can choose from.

Perhaps make your way to bretonia to start with Clydesdale, a bit better to move around, better placed weaponry (imo).

When you have enough money - try to make it for an APC ! In Nephele, if I remember correctly, but I'm not sure.

Not much bigger than a Defender-HF, still much more maneuvrable than a rhino OR Clydesdale, BIG and very well placed GUNS, and despite its smallness a corgohold more than 5-times the rhino.
I think in freighter-class the nbiggest crgo hold, next would be small train. (Please correct me, if I'm wrong.)

Igiss , the mod creator is the fairest guy from the entire community :D... because he was the only one admiting that CF has a more complex structure and its way better than Disco from every point . The only logical reason is that , Disco its less bigger than CF , half of CF size i can say even more , more people from Disco are ... newbies (i try not to insult other communities but thats the true ) , they indeed have a bigger community ( i mean when i look into the Forum they were aprox 66 ppl online , so imagine it ) but still they are newbies who prefer to install quick and connect quick . And i think Disco has a bigger image on many other sites or freelancer communities... so we need to make more advertising on the mod (banners , videos etc )... we will discuss about it later... i will be back in a few hours...

    WRONG !
If anything you start with the orbital velocity of the object, that brought you there - the Jumpgate or the jumphole.

Every object has its own, destinctiv orbital velocity around the next, bigger gravitational source, and with this source around the NEXT bigger gravitational source and so on.

But if you refer only to the sun of a system, then ALSO has every object its own spinning speed around it.

That why you have the changing positions of the planet on the nightsky, dinosaurs killing asteroidcrashes and why Gallileo would have almost been fried by the inquisition, the older days.( It's called orbital mechanics. )

I have never ever before played a spacesim on multiplayer online, as perhaps a lot of other people, who are interested about spacesims in general and Crossfire in speciality. (Maybe ONE reason for all the SP questions.)

Therefore I start this thread no to enlight me alone but hopefully giving other NOOBS like me a first stop to look at.

    1. Do I HAVE to purchase a smuggler/pirat/police-license at some point of the game or can I go on as a Freelancer
with doing (and shooting at[11]) whatever I want to endlessly, until I decide to take on a role as pirat/smuggler/cop etc.?

    2. Do I HAVE to become member of a clan at some point of the game ?

    3. What are eventually the restriction upon my gaming, if I become member of a clan ?

    4. What are the ingame "goodies" for my play, if I become member of a clan ?

    5. How do I pay "taxes" if any other player on the server (with the according right to, hopefully) is getting after me or I want to enter a clan-owned system ?

    6. If a player WITHOUT such "rights" by roleplay if after me, how do I call the server-police ?

    7. Whom I allowed to shoot at as a licenceless Freelancer and what are the consequenzes - beside being
hunted by him and his clanmates and according changes of my reputation ?

This is a first set of questions, that came to me
    Any respond really appreciated.

Plz use quotes when you grant an answer.

And for other NOOBS looking here:

This shall not be a place for questions upon storyline, quest-riddles or other spoiling !

Go out there in space and find out by yourself, or look up other threads and the spoiler-forum.

... more like an electrocuted amöbia in a whiskey tumbler.

The number I saw about 7 min. ago was just 7 .
You see, in a way I've made up my mind.)

EDIT: IMPRESSION THE NEXT DAY (plz look at the time of edit)

yesterdays counts (looked up upon new logon after crashingS), a personal selection between about 10.00 am and 12 pm

Crossfire between 15 to 25 players

HamburgServer between 50 to 70 players (maybe for some local reasons)

    DISCO between 150 to 199/200 ? ? ?

Has there, at some point, been any kind of a deeper investigation WHY all this people flock to the Disco-server ? Beside a, mildly spoken "vibrant" if not agressive advertising and promoting ?
Something like going to their and other FL forums and plainly ask "Why do you prefer Discovery-mod before other mods ?"

I ask this here before I might get me with some eventually stupid and premature activity into any kind of mine-field.

I know that after such a question you will get tons of crap like: "...simply the best...all others are S..T...no need to test something else..." and so on
but eventually the one or other: "...like the background story more...cooler ships...like more playing with CapShips...better roleplay than others..." or even something like "...didn't know there are other mods..."

I also know, that whatever will be said about the game-content, it will have NO IMPACT AT ALL on the further development of Crossfire, that hopefully will take place. And that is also HOW IT SHOULD BE AND STAY !

But it might give us an insight, why there are so many people on Disco and give us some more means to counter it, than one rally-up-call after the other.
Which I started to follow, and not only for the sake and keeping up of Crossfire. :))

Oh and please try not to argue... the purpose its to "expand" the Crossfire server not to collapse it. (to all) ...........

THIS is not to argue on you, SYNKron, but a try to avoid been misunderstood.

I DON'T hate the server or anybody who prefers playing on a server. You might get it from my post just the next one before your own I'm quoting from that I HAVE done,
what you advise: started playing on the server and began exploring, what this multiplayerexperience is made of.

Also to find out the differences between MP and SP.

Furthermore, I din't know, that SP needs to be protected. All I do is putting a spotlight on a part of CF, where it is ABSOLULY UNIQUE and FAR AHEAD all other mods in the whole FL-community,
a part that seems to me a bit underrepresented.
SP is, at least in that way, different to playing on a server, that it is sometimes better to integrate with Real Life for a lot of people.
Especially for people, who are a bit further ahead in lifetime and maybe already bonded in more responsibilities than you.

I don`t refer to the (nearly) insane swirling and caprioles and playing billiard with themself as the ball in asteroidfields.

That's already what they do in SP.

But in MP they do it in a way, that I think my screen has become kind of a "selectiv stroboskope" for the NPCs

Btw, I have a ping changing between 52 und 58. Is that good or bad ?
