    I really like how the layout is condensed and concise.. no endless scrolling.. and everything is right in front of you.


    I don't mind the colors, either. And your right, that SWAT Portal logo is sweet!


    I hope if we adopt this, that the same format will continue on the other pages of the site too.. could make it much easier to find stuff! :D

    Nick.. we are a very friendly server, especially to new players, and you are always welcome to ask any player in-game or post in the forum if you have a question.


    In fact, some of us hang out in NY just to answer questions from new players if needed.. and I'm sure you can find plenty of forum postings from new players testifying to the fact that we are indeed friendly to them.


    But its like this.. you wouldn't sit down to play a $500 ante poker game without knowing what you were doing, would you? I don't think you would..


    Same goes for playing in a clan system. The clan is allowed to make their own rules for their system. If you break those rules and get caught, that is on you - not the clan policing their own system. They were defending their rules, and they were right to do so.


    You got blown out of the sky because you were smuggling in a clan system that does not allow smuggling. If you were unaware of the clan rules, then you should not have been there in the first place.. there are plenty of systems in Crossfire that are not clan-owned and are open for trading.


    If you'd like to come back to Crossfire, look me up and I'll give you $100 million to get you started again.. but only if you promise to learn the rules before entering any more clan space.

    I have to agree with Spiky and Wavey on this one.. If you're gonna play in someone else's system, then you better be damned sure you know what the rules are.. and that you follow them..


    Unless, of course, you are doing your RP.. in which case, you know you're gonna get into some PvP, which is what the RP is all about. That's to be expected, and you go into it knowing the risk of getting your ass blown up in space.


    I have my fair share of Pirate, Smuggler and Merc chars (as being a Freelancer I can :D ), but if I'm gonna trade in a Clan System, then I'm gonna abide by the rules.


    Wavey had no problem giving me permission to trade in Custo, and no one ever bothered me when I was doing it, cause I played by the rules and didn't trade or smuggle any BMG.


    I'm sorry the poor dude had to learn the hard way, but it certainly pays to play fair and know what the hell playing fair means in ANY clan system. BG can certainly police their system in whatever way they see fit.. same goes for SMG, SFP, TRF and all the other clans.


    I got blown outta the sky just the other week by a TRF who didn't know me.. and just because I was flying in Nephele space. [78]


    That was MY mistake.. but you don't see me whining about it on the forums, or deleting the Crossfire mod because of it. [frust]


    Afterward, TRF and I had a good laugh about it. No big deal and no hard feelings. 8)


    If this poor dude can't take the heat, then he shouldn't have been smuggling in Custo in the first place. [7]


    I certainly hope he will come back when he cools off.. after all, it IS a game.. but I'm feeling at this point that he's being a poor sport about the whole thing.

    Well.. I voted that they have to register. But I do agree if there is a way to allow limited access or view-only for unregistered users/guests, then that would be good for SWAT..


    If it cant be done, however, I vote to leave it like it is to keep all the bad apples out. ;)

    I play on Vista without any problems.. but dont ask me about the CF setup. My darling Devil is the computer genius in our house, and he did all the setup for me..

  • Mod of the Year awards and the US Airforce

    I can see another reason for the USAF sponsorship of gaming and mods.. yes, they will use it as a recruiting tool.. but after the immense success of the Americas Army game (which I also play), I can see how the Air Force would want to tap into the gaming world.


    Americas Army is a worldwide gaming community, and its not inconceivable that the Air Force is planning something similar. It only makes sense for them to get their fingers in the pie, so to speak.


    I havent been to the MOTY site since voting for Crossfire, and it is MOTYs decision as to what they put on their site and who they accept as sponsors.


    I hope this will not affect other gaming genres. It was my understanding that the voters decided who was in the top 100 and who won the competition. If that is still true, then I dont see how sponsorship matters all that much..


    The fact that all those FPS games are in the top 100 just reflects what most of the voters are playing right now... and just because the USAF is sponsoring or presenting the MOTY awards, doesnt mean they have voting power in the awards process..


    Im willing to give the benefit of the doubt here.. after all, MOTY existed before this sponsorship, and unless their rules have changed, a sponsor doesnt have any say in who wins or loses this competition..
