I would venture that the reason that people did not report the dervon gun harvesting was that they did not think it was a bug or an exploit. Personally I thought it was a new way to make money you had introduced in 1.8. Especially since you had to voluntarily choose to give them a high value. So please do not hold that fact against the players, there was no way to know that was no intended.

For our 3d modeller/sculptor, here's a new free program that has been released recently. I haven't tried it since it's not my really my kind of stuff but I thought that some people here might be interested. From the demo it seem pretty powerful and not to hard to use. It's been created by Tomas Pettersson in the last 6 months as a personal project and the guy decided to release it for free.

Also, the battered look of many ships is voluntary. It's the ambiance that was chosen for the game. Shiny ships with bright colours would not fit with the rest of the game.

I found a few wrecks but nothing of significance in them.

Just a note, people that do not have license are still part of the RP it's just that they are freelancers. They can be taxed, they can be fined if they are committing illegal act.

And for the limiting ships to factions and region, it's not feasible right now I think because of the uneven distribution of top ships in CF.

Especially since it's likely that (if it's a cheat) most player traded with other players to get the equipment. There may even be only one or 2 people that have originated those alien torps.

Then we seem to have a cheater on our hands.

In the end, it's on us to decide if we want CF 1.8 to succeed or not. If we bring back enough players at the same time we have a chance to achieve critical mass again. This is not about one clan or the other, old grudges must be left at the door if we are to have a chance to bring back the server to it's former glory. The people we need the most are the ones that were the driver of RP, those that not only created fun for themselves but for everybody else. It is to easy to play this game like it is for your own enjoyment only forgetting that there are other people on the other side.

Personally, I derive the most fun out of this game from interactions with other players. Create a character and have fun with it, use your imagination. There is so much more opportunity to this game then only npc killing and trading. Even pvp fights are made much more fun when you can create a story behind them, when you have a motivation to fight.

I've had that problem on win 7 64 bits. It was resolved by running the installer and the mod manager as administrator. (same thing will uninstalling the modmanager run it as administrator, you may have a partially uninstalled copy of the manager hanging around in you system
