Since I never did one of these before....I reserved the 1st post for later. So far I have been building this Rommie Tac officer with this is my planned skill tree If you see any major issues with my planned layout....I'm looking for feedback :)

At this point only the skills is what I have been working on while getting some levels.....no idea on ship yet or other things....but I think this should be a good start for a decent space and ground toon with a good balance of abilities.

edit = arrr...forum is acting weird...double post and I want to edit thread title ^^

    edit....ok, now it's fixed

Well it seems that I have made progress as to why this was happening. Gunny suggested changes to my page file settings and it seems to have helped a lot. I haven't tested enough to know that it's completely fixed, but initial testing is promising.....now if I only had more time to play !! I should be around more often soon tho and will try to check in most evenings for at least short sessions.

    Cya's all in space

As long as OP can keep the SB projects queued up it seems the best way to make fleet progress on the right items. I am wondering tho if the new setting will help to find who keeps setting these projects....time will tell I guess

Haven't had a chance to make any progress due to wildfires in the area. I'm sitting about 5-7 miles in between six different fires and have been helping friends evacuate their neighborhoods and crossing my fingers that it will soon be over. Overall I think I'm in a pretty safe zone due to topography and such, but you never know. The Santa Anna winds are calming down and the temps should drop and get a bit of moisture back to the air so it is looking good in a day or 2 to have the worst behind.

Thanks the suggestions G....I may try some of that before upgrading to Win7 (I think I'm going to get win 7 pro 64 bit), just to see if I learn anything along the way

    Cyas all soon I hope

I'll get it figured out someday......but not an issue with updates, there are none for win xp ^^
Mostly it seems a problem with graphics card driver? but I have tried every driver ever released from the manufacture and from amd with this card and none help to resolve the issue. Card is Sapphire HD 4870 and has no issues with anything else I have ever played. Maybe a different graphics card would solve the issue, but that's not an option at this time.
Not giving up...but giving in for now

    Good voyages to all

Edit, I do need to get online and turn about 40-50 blue and purple doffs to commons so you might see me around a little bit 8).

Didn't want to start a new thread.....but tried playing again today. This game hates my pc/setup/hardware/IDK. Anyway, I'll try doing a whole reload of game next week and see if it helps any....but at this point I can't join any teams, help other players or have any fun playing...so the game is a completely useless and aggravating endeavor for me. This is about my last attempt to make the game run decently on this system...and I don't see any major upgrades in my near future.

Perhaps it's better that I give the fleet 2 more open slots and retire....IDK. I do know that when I sign in and try to play that immediate crashes and crap make me a less hospitable team player and that I am doing no good helping anyone when I get pissed off at the game.....so

Good voyages to all.......I hope to see you all in space in the future

Glad to hear you got the pc up and running :) For rep stuff, I suggest working mostly on 1 char to t5 in each of the reps and then using the "sponsorship" to your advantage.

Hopefully I'll be able to do some upgrades soon an my system ( well in next few months ) and not have to see missions that look like this damn.JPG

I know that feeling of long over due pc build ^^...Maybe you should have slotted all "efficient" bridge officers to offset power demands :) Good luck and hope you get things fixed soon!!

I do have a similar to red matter capacitor item on my engy toon (forget what it's called atm). The biggest advantage to the red matter item is that it is able to be put in a device slot (slots that are mostly useless to me it seems) instead of being a universal console

I don't buy anything I don't get a hard copy of....but maybe I missed something in fine print over the years. Cloud concept can still KMA. Oops, now I am old!!!!

Even on my tac I give up some dps to have a better balance of my abilities....so I guess I really don't do a full on dps build on anything. A tip for Centaurian, there's several ways to go about hepling/healing others in the team...the team members on the upper left of your screen (default location) correspond to your f-keys...your are f1, next guy is f-2 etc. So If you see someone needs a heal you can just hit the f key for that guy and then hit your healing icon. Usually I find that 1 particular player is maybe doing a mission that they aren't set up for yet....so I will "pin" him so I can keep close eye on that particular player :) My engy toon has enough passive healing for me that I almost never need the extra heals and things....so I send them out as much as I can, I'm still not very good at it, but with practice it gets easier :)

So, I know that it seems to be a topic of discussion several times and I am still not sure of my stance on the subject. DPS...yes it's useful...and no it's not the end all be all of the game. I know it aggravates some to even speak of it and others strive for it. So here is my take on the topic.

Yes....it's much easier to do stf's (or any event for that matter) with a team that has good/higher dps numbers.....but it's also easy to do stf's with a TEAM of people that have maybe lower overall dps and a knowledge of what the mission goals are to accomplish the desired outcome. The real key to easy success in most missions is teamwork.....especially a few missions that make it impossible to do without teamwork and knowledge of the mission.

Personally, I feel that if I had higher DPS sometimes I could cover more mistakes by a team....but, since I'm a free to play guy I'm never going to be close to having great dps, and I really don't care. I've never had the best ships, equipment etc in any game I have ever played.....what I do have is the ability to try and adjust, learn from mistakes, and hopefully help others gain a quicker knowledge of a specific task then fumbling around in the dark. I think I can do a pretty dang good job of playing and helping others have fun even with the limitations that I impose on myself with regards to the things I have access too in the game, but my problem is that I can't explain what I am doing and fly effectively at the same time. In general, I think I'm a decent team mate, but that is up to others to decide. The problem with that is.....some people don't want to know or hear that they are doing a mission or task wrong ( and perhaps "wrong" is the wrong word.....) or ineffectively.

I am always willing to help new people, team mates/fleet mates get better at having a good ship and having fun.....but, as long as I have been here and tried...I still haven't been able to make progress getting a team of people that can run through a bunch of missions successfully and efficiently (yes, I know that is self-centered) . It get's a bit frustrating sometimes, but I still think it's possible that our fleet will have experienced players during all different time zones and the more teams of guys that are able to show others how something is done once in awhile, the better off we will be in the end.

Need to have everyone going around competing over dps.....NO
Need to have everyone at same point in learning curve....NO
Need to have fleet members actually want to be in our fleet....YES

    Just my 2 cents

Usually I get about 650k average and on a good day I end up with an item or 2 to put on exchange.....it's not a bad way to go if you need a shot at equipment or ec's. Also, it's good to run that before you go to a daily foundry mission for dils....all the equips in a space loot-o-matic use up the total daily drops (better than getting ground junk) and then you do a fast foundry mission for about 2000 dils. 1/2 hour 500-700 easy ec's and ~ 2000 dils. Add Tour the Universe for 15 mins and you easily have close to a mil ec and a couple thousand dils in 45 mins or so......so many ways to skin a cat in this game :)
