UPDATE: HUZZAH!
All Problems Resolved! Even all the different Shaders are functioning now, which never happened before!
First, the "This app can't run on your PC" was solved as above. to reiterate, by unzipping the Crossfire 2.0 folder on my desktop before installing.
Second, I read in this thread that one must accept the License agreement that appears after installing vanilla freelancer prior to installing Crossfire: Error in launching the game
That solved my "Error Code 1" Issue
Thirdly, my original error that caused me to uninstall a functional install of Crossfire 2.0 (Particles and Stars appearing as colored squares) has also been solved, presumably because of Freelancer being installed on my desktop, where the '.EXE' is now unrestricted in it's ability to access textures for particles and suns. (I could be wrong about this.)
Thank you!
(P.S:Am I able to mark my own thread as resolved, or is that the job of an Administrator?)
(P.P.S: I encountered the "This app can't run on your PC" issue a second time. This time, the issue was solved by copying the 'Crossfire Launcher.EXE' from the files installed into my Freelancer Mod Manager 'Mods' folder, and placing it into my Crossfire 'EXE' folder directly.
I have a theory as to when the bug initiated: It happened directly after cancelling the Launcher's effort check for updates. I cancelled the update check, because my internet is really slow right now, and I didn't want to download any possible update. Apparently, cancelling the update check bugged the Launcher, so as to make it unable to run on my PC.)
