Nitro I assumed teh_crow misused the term dockrape when he said it happend in Dublin. There is no place to dock a train in dublin. Shooting a fleeing play trying to dock with a station, gate or hole has always been acceptable.

burro There may not be an official, bannable, rule against invading clan systems, but we have all agreed that this is a rule and is not to be done as it will lead to chaos. I'm sure the leadership of CFPD don't want there members challenging players to invade Tarsus.

The reason I posted the reply was the two statements made it seem that teh_crow was complaining about the RP that we all play, and inviting ppl to break the rules.

I was just suggesting he discuss this with his leaders so that they could explain it better.

@teh_crow I think you need to ask your clanmates to explain the rp and server rules Some of your statements make it seem like you don't understand it.

If you don't pay the tax then you can expect to be shot.

try invading some clan systems, come to tarsus plz come to tarsus plz

    This is against server rules.

@ Si, had a lot of fun m8.

I agree, and this is a prime example of how such events kick off. It starts off small and grows in players.

And once the battle has started its hard to get ppl to stop and and reform under some rules.

But that's exactly what we have to do. We have to decide at what point a simple 3 on 1 RP-PVP becomes a "mini-event" / battle for a system.

Once there were 3-4 on each side, we should stop the melee, elect group leaders, agree to rules of engagment and start again. Once restarted only group leaders would have the power to stop the melee.

This will take some disipline on everyone's part.

But once the melee has stopped, we could group up and each group exit the system and dock. Once that happens neither group should dock in the contested system. Then respawns woud occur outside the system and we would be able to tell when one side is victorious.

I don't like the one-death and your out rule, because everone likes another shot at whoever killed them, etc.

But we could do it with rounds where newcomers and the dead remain outside the system until everyone in one group is defeated. That round would go to the victory, then the everone would respawn as a group and then round 2 would take place and so on. This would go on until one group gained a superior number of victories or capitulated.

I also like the idea of matched numbers of ships. Perhaps for each round we could add newcomers and freelancers to even up the numbers. It would be the group leaders reponsibliliy to add members to their group (chat).

Although fighting my good friend Gunny 3 on 1 seems to be the wisest course of action. :)

As for newcomers and freelancers, we would just need to deal with them. I don't want to exclude them I want everone that can participate to do so. If a freelancer joins the battle and kills a group member, that group member would be able to respawn and reenter, after telling the freelancer what is going on and encouraging them to pick a group, goto that groups respawn base and await the next round,

Please continue to post your ideas, my opinion is just one of many and everyone's opinion is valuable.

    Regards.

I too have read about this type of model. I liked it. I like the idea of clans fighting for control of systems and regions. Ops is right thought, it would take a high level of administartion to keep up current system ownership maps, etc. And unfortunately, I don't think it would fit our server.

Two other problems hit me immediately:

    1) For a clan to control the California system, for example, a clan would need to own all 5 stations. This would mean having ships stationed at all 5 stations 24/7.

If you've played off hours and had to deal with the numberous ppl not reading the server rules and tresspassing on existing clan systems, you know why I say this would be impossible to defend.

    2) We are a true 24/7 server, for example LPs have members in timezones ranging from GMT+2 to GMT-7. The types of clan battles described in this model is usually done with several days notice. And like our current events would exclude all those not in the appropriate timezone. No matter what time you chose for such a battle / event, a large group of players would not be able to participate.

I don't have answers for these issues, just putting them out there. Whatever RP rules the leadership agrees to, will need to fit our server and players.

Cat, all of my crashing problems stemed from one of two causes. Bad install and Sound Card Hardware accelleration.

Try this. Unintall everthing FL related. Delete directories and registry keys.

Turn hardware accelleration off for your sound card.

Reinstall FL, FLMM and CF mod.

If you still experince crashing, come back here and post any events in your system logs etc.

Don't give up, we'll get you going eventually.

Yes. And I've also heard of issues with the program crashing when selecting "new game" to start the single player portion. I believe this is due to the "hardware acceleration" issue for sound cards many have experienced.

For me the solution was to select "Sound and Audio devices" under windows control panel. Choose "Advanced" under speaker settings. Then click on the "Performance Tab". Once there you can use the slider to select "None" for the Acceleration option.

Thanks for the suggestion. The use of escorts has occured to us as well. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately the LPs most active members are from varying timezones. Having 4 or 5 online a the same time is unfortunately less the rule than the exception. And tying up 4 players for an hour to make 11 mil a piece is probably not going to work. After all that is 2 taxes at current rates.

Drakon, I appreciate your kind words, and your take of the situation. We're going to have to find that solution to be able to provide you with the new "targets" you enjoy so much. As for our taxing policy, its an honor thing. If you tell an LP that another taxed you today, we trust that. If we find out differently we will exact a high price.

I love the RP here. And I love being a Pirate. Not just because my heart is black, but rather, because everyone always wants to be the "cowboys" and wear the "white hats". Someone has to play the "indians" and someone has to wear the "black hats". Without this it would be masterb*%$#@, uh self-gratification.

With the loss of the PIA X( the role of the LP will need to expand. I hope we find a way that will increase the enjoyment of the RP for everyone. I encourage the Fallen to step up their activities as well. We're all counting on you.

    Argos,

Pls accept my apology for including your clan in my post. It was not my intention to single your clan out. It was reported to me that Jameson was engaged 4 on 1 and then 5 on 2 when privy arrived.

But you do play a police role, when members of your clan alone or in conjunction with other clans oppose pirates. That not an accusation, its just how the rp works in practice.

As for you shooting trains, Jameson was clear that he didn't think IOC or UAC shot his train. That was CFPD and KRT.

I only included your clan in my post as you were in the fight.

Im curious. You will seek retribution against pirates for taxing, thats ok. Do you seek retribution against CFPD when they catch you smuggling? How about KRT? And DCs?

I was interested in two aspects of Jameson's post.

    1) Why was IOC and UAC teamed up with krt and CFPD against one LP? I didn't know IOC and UAC had a police role. And come guys, did gunny really need all that help against one new guy?

    2) Why was CFPD shooting LP trains not hauling BMGs?

To the second question: I got my answer from CFPD last night, "LP are pirates, its rp"

So be it. We enjoy our roleplay.

If there are going to be so many police clans shooting up our trains repeatedly in the same day, I'm going to suggest to LP leadership that they revisit our taxation policy specifically the amount and the 24hr rule.

We have new recruits in need of cash as well, and the current policy may be putting them at a disadvantage.

    Let see.

In about an hour a police friendly clanmember can net 45mil from a sucessful Sol run. Less 5 mil if they are taxed.

An LP Pirate must successfully tax 9 different trains in that same hour before being run off by multiple members of the 6 police role clans to do the same.

In the next hour, a police friendly clanmember can repeat the run without the cost of being taxed, but an LP must find 9 different trains that haven't been taxed by an LP that day.

    This should make recruiting fun.

uh.. apparently some of your clan have decided to start your new RP. I stopped to talk to one of yours last night to get the story only to be shot without warning. When I said "nice... no warning no nothing?" I was told simply "DC is police now."
