I can not help you avoiding bugs, however Martind Forlon and SWAT_OP_R8R have given you good advice on how to avoid them. Here's some tip on avoiding combat: when you see hostiles incoming on your scanner, try not to engage but run away from them. As soon as a disruptor hits you, go to manual/free flight, kill your engines, burst away from them on your thruster, then float, turn around and point your guns at them (you should be flying backwards at this point) This makes them slow down and you win some space. If you lose too much speed, turn away from them, burst thruster and repeat.
When they are far enough away, you can try to continue cruising to your destination (and do not rely on autopilot, it is the worst pilot on the server :D)
That way, you can avoid having to shoot nomads, and you have less chance of getting shot down in Inner core. Hope this helps and happy flying

Interesting, I never heard of this issue before. How many drones did you kill in the Dervon mission? If you had shot a lot of DK on your altair trip, you need to kill some extra. When I get ordered to retreat from Dervon, I just keep shooting drones on the way out and my DK rep will be fine. Shooting aliens will help your DK rep, BUT, only at a very slow rate. Don't bother with aliens, reloading your savegame before Dervon is faster.
