lol two hdd's with an OS on each you could just partition the damn thing well the first hd and have the second one as a backup.;)
I always use partition on hd's and at the moment I have three partitions on my 500GB Samsung HD501LJ Sata hard drive with the following os's on seperate partitions.
Windows Xp 32 bit, Windows 7 32 bit and last but not least Kubuntu 11.10 64 bit as I have found Windows 7 doesn't allocate anymore then 3gb-3.25gb of ram on my machine even when using the 64 bit version and for a lot of people this is hardly ever the case but on my setup its just the way its behaving and yet in Xp if I use an 64bit version of Xp it allocates all of my 4gb of ram.
I suspect its a kernel issue in Windows 7 or I just haven't turned on something in my bios but Kubuntu 11.10 64 bit and most Linux 64 bit os's allocates all my 4GB of ram just fine.
I use Windows Xp because not all my Windows Xp programs work in Windows 7 and Kubuntu because I use Kdenlive, terminal for programming things etc as msdos/cmd in windows is crap for me.
And also for Flightgear as Windows hogs around 30fps in simulators and emulators no joke, I suspect its crappy management of the vram or just aero being a hog and also it hogs around 20% of your bandwidth and yes I know how to fix that but still network connections are slower in windows.
I only use Windows 7 for games mostly and benchmarking, overclocking and photoshop.:)

Take care Tezz and good luck with the treatment.
-
lol it does work with crossfire but I only use it to find ships.:)
And I have completed Freelancer countless times so, I see no harm in using datastorm for the above stated reason. -
New stable overclock see first post for the updated details.:)
-
My username&handle on Freelancer(Crossfire Mod) has changed to the following.
[DRA]GrimReapersRevolt
And we are still recruiting.:) -
I successfully overclocked my Intel C2D E6850 to 3.90Ghz stable and I increased the vcore to 1.56volts and it is now running stable at 3.90Ghz.
I also had to bump up my ram voltage to 2.10 as well as sb and nb volts a bit. I cannot go any higher on the cpu as the ram is holding me back as the GEIL ram is rated 1.80v and the Battlistix ram is rated 2.00v.
I also have changed the latency on my ram and the clock speeds(see screenshot 5-5-5-18) and, I can't push the gpu ram any higher in combination with a high core clock speed.
So I think I need to drop gpu ram clock speed to around 1500 and go from there.
Previous 3DMark06 Score
I successfully overclocked my Intel C2D E6850 to 3.80Ghz stable and I increased the vcore to 1.55volts and it is now running stable at 3.80Ghz.
Passes with flying colors in 3dmark06 advanced edition and in EVGA OC Scanner, all tests have been run.
My graphics card idle's at 20 degrees and my cpu idles at 25-30(with firefox open).
I think I can push the card a tad further and its brand new, I have only owned it for nearly a week.
PC Spec's
I recently purchased the following upgrades hence this new overclocking post.
Asus GeForce GTX 550Ti 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
The card already comes slightly overclocked from Asus.
And I also purchased this monster of a psu.:)
650W OCZ ZS Series ATX2.2 80PLUS Bronze Power Supply
I haven't got my new case yet but, I will be doing soon.;)
And for the moment I decided not to get a new motherboard for 8gb of ddr3 ram hence the need for a new motherboard because there all crap for my liking.
But I had to drop my ide hard drive and remove it from my current build so, I have more space and better airflow.
I also purchased.
Arctic Silver Ceramique 2 25g Premium High-Density Thermal Compound
And some of this.
Akasa TIM Clean - Thermal Interface Cleaner
Along with some cotton buds to clean my Arctic Cooler Revision 2 cooler and my Intel Core2Duo E6850 and If you remove and apply the thermal compound right you get awesome temps.:D
Check out these temps straight after the upgrade.;)
'Ignore the wrong time and date as, I had to reset the bios well I do this with every build as standard practice for myself.'
And its cheaper for me this way and Battlefield Bad Company 2 maxed out runs awesome and without any overclocking.
I am also able to run Battlefield 3 maxed out on ultra.:)
[Already Owned Hardware]
Motherboard-MSI P35 NEO2,
[Ram]
2x1GBDDR2 PC2-6400(400Mhz),
2X2GB DDR2 Ballistixs(With status leds),
Cpu-Intel Core2Duo E6850@3.80Ghz(stable),
[Cpu Cooler]Freezer 7 pro rev 2,
Harddrive-Samsung HD501LH 500GB(sata). -
Fair enough, I prefer the eye candy to be in games but not on the desktop.><
-
The lowest card that is able to run battlefield 3 is the Nvidia 8800gt or 8800gts but the graphics won't be great hence, I upgraded and Spiky with a good graphics card it will runs just fine.:)
-
Sorry nope I don't own that game yet.
-
The final release is better then the beta.:)
-
I have just finished the Battlefield 3 campaign and it was awesome in my opinion minus the odd bugs here and there.
It did irritate me with there damn auto overclock feature in the game screwing with my cpu and gpu, but I found a way to overcome that.:) -
I know, I played the beta and I also own the complete Battlefield 2 Collection and Battlefied Bad Company 2 for my current PC.:)
I am just waiting for the update to finish downloading to install.:)
I am a bit of a Battlefield nut and my favourite position/role in the game series is sniper/recon.:)
I also fixed my old Nvidia 880GTS 320bit 640mb GDDR3 card by stripping it down, cleaning all the thermal paste off it and doing the oven trick.
Letting it cool down and then reapplying the thermal paste and screwing it all back together.
And now it works and obviously I am using the latest card, I recently purchased.:) -
Thanks, I just purchased Battlefield 3 today, I am installing it now.:)
-
I have gotten both single player and multiplayer in Freelancer (crossfire) mod to work now and if you get the same common.dll error when playing singleplayer/new game delete the Restart.fl file in the save games directory for Freelancer and restart the game.
Enjoy. -
Okay I finally upgraded&replaced my graphics card today and not a bad card either.
Asus GeForce GTX 550Ti 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

'Ignore the wrong time and date as, I had to reset the bios well I do this with every build as standard practice for myself.'
And its cheaper for me this way and Battlefield Bad Company 2 maxed out runs awesome although Freelancer (crossfire) mod doesn't like my card, I keep getting the common.dll error when starting singleplayer. But I am upgrading the Nvidia driver now.:)
And I will be buying a new case when I can get someone to give me a lift home with it as its freaking huge the one, I should be getting hopefully.:)
Its a coolermaster case, brilliant cooling.:) -
Annoyingly they were out of stock so I will have to go to another shop tomorrow.
But I have hit a bit of rough patch today and I am in no mood to build it just yet.
Its personal sorry I can't disclose anymore, lets just say it really knocked it out of me.
And my PC days hang in the balance if I can't get my head back together again. -
I am sorry for my absence but my graphics card died, I know bummer and I am not sure if the psu killed it or not.
It went black and stalled twice then on the last restart started and has since then has always been artifacting.
I have recenly been given some cash for xmas just gone so, I will be building myself a new PC tomorrow.:)
I am not to fussed about the graphics card I am using as it was a present from my dad and it will do just fine for my 17 inch monitor and freelancer (crossfire) mod.
I will be using a PNY Nvidia 9600GT OC 512mb GDDR3 and ooh did I mention I will have 8gb of vengance DDR3 ram.
Yeah baby yeah!
Not to get too exicted about the graphics card but it will do as, I will be upgrading it later on in the year.
'Edit-I already upgraded to a Asus GeForce GTX 550Ti 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express graphics card, lol.'
Obviously for this build I will need a better psu for all my other hardware included and I will be using a new motherboard.
Hence the spec requirement and changes but hehe, I am not telling you lot any more details.
You will all have to wait and see once I have built this sweet looking beast of a machine.
Trent won't know what hit him, lmao.:D><
But here is a teaser for you all, awesome air flow for the case, see through and neon blue lit.
I haven't done a new full build in ages, I am so eager to build this machine now.
The only things, I will be keeping from my old PC in my new build is the cpu, cpu cooler, sata hard drive and dvd-ram/dvd-rw/dvd-r/cd-rw/cd-r drive.
Unfortunaly I have to say goodbye to the world of DDR2 ram and ide hardware.
You will be sorely missed and I have had such fond and fun memories with this hardware.
But times change I suppose and once again, I am moving in line with the masses.
Upgrading my hardware to the latest spec hardware well more or less.;) -
Thanks its an okay system for today's specs probably by current definitions a mid range PC for gaming and performance.
To think this was the best setup for its time when, I first built it.
'Shudders at the rate hardware changes.'
My previous build had a Nvidia 6800GTS and a Intel E2180 cpu(2.00Ghz Stock), I overclocked that cpu from 2.00Ghz to 3.80Ghz.
100% stable. Damn I love that chip, I can overclock my current cpu to 4.00Ghz.
But I can't get it to pass prime95 stable because I need better cooling. -
lol mine must look slow in comparison to you guys, I built the thing nearly four years ago minus the cpu cpu cooler and ram upgrades the year before last.
I am so overdue an upgrade it just isn't funny anymore.

Edit.
I successfully overclocked my Intel C2D E6850 to 3.80Ghz stable to increase the score and I only had to increase the vcore to 1.55volts and it is now running stable at 3.80Ghz. Tested with prime 95 on small ftt's and blend test and passed 3dmark06 flawlessly again.;)
Passes with flying colors in 3dmark06 advanced edition, all tests ran and even with EVGA OC Scanner and, I only ever got one artifact until I bumped the minimum duty cycle to 65 for the fan speed and voila stable as a concrete wall and not a single artifact.:)
I get no delays in loading terrains, objects etc in games now nada not even in Battlefield Bad Company 2 maxed out and no artifacts anywhere.
I also flashed these clockings and cooling settings to the graphics card and re ran the EVGA OC Scanner, still stable and no artifacts and idle's at 55-56 degrees.;)
So I no longer need a graphics card replacement, It just took ten different overclocking attempts to get the most highest stable overclock with this Nvidia 8800 GTS 320bit G80(A2,96sp)with 640MB DDR3.[Nvidia 8800GTX Clockings, Runs flawlessly]:)

Yeah I am a bit of an OC junkie lol and of course it will run Freelancer(Crossfire)Mod.:D -
You could just edit the game save.:)
Search for the money line, edit and save then load the game and volia.
I have completed freelancer enough times so, I am not really fussed about this small but significant tweak to how we experience the game.I put your response in a spoiler tag just in case he wants to do it legit.
