Fanbloodytastic.
You are from the non-aligned worlds, leader..., it's reasonable you want such complots
Oc...hehe
Its not only capships - there are plenty other things that could make it incompatible and with that would make a char wipe necessary. Just the new hook would be one point.
But nevermind - right now there is no need for a char wipe. Everything else will be determined later and will be announced.
Nice one Huor thanx.
It was just my wicked sense of humour, to see about 60 ppl online starting a fresh,
Including the BIG BOYS... lol...I can hear them swearing now in fact. hehe
Still...if it happens, it happens...it would be fun.
Just my opinion.
Cygna
Yes, the only changes at existing stuff (related to player data) were at certain capital ships, and to avoid any conflict they are getting sold (deleted). The new added stuff as it never existed till now can't have any conflict.
So even if you enjoy flying a Starflier(which you can always do), there's no reason for any wipe.
Ok, Thanks Mike for clearing that up.
I am looking forward to exploring the Vastness of space which is Crossfire 1.9
I hope to see you there too..
Cygna
Display MoreNo it's not a new mod, it's just an improved version... and especially for SinglePlayer... It's still CF and it's not even in a day.
If you wanna start from scratch you can do it with your clan, by deleting all your chars.
The lag kit works the same for old or new chars, as there's no difference.
So your opinion is ok, but your points are partially incorrect.
It is anyway too late for changing your minds, if you could think of it by yourself before the tests were finished, it could be another thing.
Only wanted to see the MOD start with little or no problems thats all m8
So that OP wouldn't be overburdened with char problems, so problems would be NEW problems if you get my drift.
But thats most prob not correct as you said same mod just improved.
Ok I will look forward to its release.
Cygna
if its asked too much to get rid of those ships then we instead talking about a full char whipe if that pleases you more
To Honest, OP has a good point here.
IMHO, i think there should be a complete char wipe, after all, its a new MOD, and a NEW day in Crossfire History.
It would be fun to see everyone on the server again buying their ships and indeed mapping the systems again.
I for one (and i am sure my clan agrees with me) wouldn't mind starting over, think of the challange ladies/gents.
Besides, if your old chars still pose a problem for OP to sort out, more whines and moans and PM's for him to deal with.
So I am up for a clean sweep, so the new server lag kit and all the new bits and bobs on the new mod can work perfectly
from the start.
Ok some of you may have built your fleets over months and even years, but this would give the swat Community the boost
it needs.
Hard choice but I feel the Right choice.
Well done OP and the Dev team for doing a fantastic job as always.
Cygna
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Chris.
Have a great day, if I am late with this message, HAPPY HANGOVER
Michael, Could you PM me that little nugget u gave BAMBAMBAM.
A suggestion, Perhaps have a Bank installed at all planets and stations,
Or just one On Manhatten.
So you could start a new char and withdraw your loot to upgrade your ship.
American Express....that will do nicely Sir....
I dunno, just trying I s'pose
We owe it to these Guys for the Creation Of FREELANCER.
Respects.
Nice post m8

Overview
X: Beyond the Frontier, or X-BTF, is the grandfather of the X series. Released by Egosoft in 1999 and set in the year 2912, it details the backstory to the X-Universe.
Although most of the features in X3 can be traced back to this
game in some way, this Wiki is for the later X3 games and is not
suitable directly for assistance in X-BTF related issues or for X-BTF
reference. For this, see the game manual or Argonopedia.
It was succeeded by X-Tension, a stand-alone expansion pack.
Gameplay
In X-BTF, unlike each subsequent game, the player was confined to one ship, the X-Shuttle.
The X-shuttle began with no weapons in either of its two weapon slots, a
single 1MJ shield in its two shield slots and very limited cargo
capacity, speed and manoeuvrability. However, there was no limit to the
number or upgrades it could recieve and it was capable of assimilating
every piece of equipment available.
This equipment came in the form of the SETA,
a number of computer modules that added autopiloting capabilities to
the ship, fire control systems and more. Many of these would come as
standard on ships in later games.
Map
There were only 54 Sectors in the original X-Universe map,
with many well-known sectors from later games yet to be discovered and
the neutral bloc between what would come to be known as Farnham's Legend and Hatikvah's Faith under Xenon control.
Ships
The game introduced the original seven classes of ship; the military classes from M1 through M5 and the TS and TL classes.
Economy
The X-BTF economy is much the same as in later games. No new basic
wares (but many weapons and munitions) have been added since. Factory
management was much simpler, with factories behaving much as NPC
factories do. Ships could only be bought at factories and could not be
reassigned from that factory. The biggest difference was the cost of
wares; Credits were divided into decimals and the prices were
approximately one-quarter of those common in the later game.
Weapons
There were nine weapons, five missiles and four shields available in
the game. The IRE, PAC and HEPT were each divided into Alpha, Beta and
Gamma variants, with the Alpha IRE being the weakest weapon, found on
light scouts, and the Gamma HEPT being the strongest and found only on capital ships
and, late in the game, the X-Shuttle. All fighters were equipped with
only two weapons, IREs for light fighters and PACs for heavy fighters.
Missiles all behaved the same way, single-shot homing warhards, with
heavier missiles trading speed for power. The five available missiles
were (in order of power) the Mosquito, Wasp, Dragonfly, Silkworm and
Hornet. Shields available ranged in size from 1MW through 5MW, 25MW and
125MW and each ship carried two, the size depending on the class.

M1
Overview
M1 Carriers are dangerous combat support ships carrying shoals of smaller fighters.
M1s are usually heavily armed and armored in their own right, but are not focused as much on capital ship combat as M2
class vessels. As a rule they can brush off attacks from anything
smaller than a Corvette but should not be allowed to get into a slugging
match with another Capital-class ship.
Acquiring
M1 ships include:
Purchasable
Capturable
Not Boardable

TL
TL class ships are the Station Transports of the X universe. They carry the largest Cargo Class: ST.
A single TL can carry enough weapons, ammunition and energy to supply an entire fleet. However, they are not combat ships.
They are also commonly used as base ships for mobile mining
operations. The drawback is that these ships can only dock at stations
with capital ship docking clamps.

TS
TS Transport class ships are the rugged bears of space commerce.
Transports carry every sort of cargo around the X-universe due to their versatile and capacious cargo bays.
They are frequently assigned to factories to handle the
acquisition of raw materials and distribution of finished goods. It is
not uncommon however for free traders piloting a TS to make a profit
selling wares between stations, buying low and selling high.
When equipped with an Ore Collector, Transports (due to their capacious XL cargo bays) may also be used for Mobile Mining operations.
Each transporter comes in different variants. Ranging across
standard models, miners, tankers, haulers and superfreighters, the
principle difference between variants is the balance between speed and
cargo capacity. Some models like miners are most distinguished by
built-in equipment like Ore Collectors.
Their members include:

M5
M5 ships are scout ships. They are the lightest vessels flying in
known space. Whilst they are armed, this armament is little more than
token; these ships are no match for any other class in a fight,
including armed TS-class ships.
They are designed and usually used for reconnaisance and
anti-recon, or sometimes as cannon fodder. Some M5s are refered to as
the 'rich man's fighter drone'.
The most powerful M5 weapon is generally the Particle Accelerator Cannon, but some can't mount those and have to cope with the weaker Impulse Ray Emitter.

Awesome ship m8, well done.
Would love to fly that baby.

Cool, even I remember all the video and so I already played it, but not with the textures addon mod.
At the video you posted, it tells it's X2 v1.5 and ATAMAH HUGE Graphic MOD with a link, but none of the download links at that site is working, apparently. Any ideas about them, or you already have that pack ?
Not sure why that is, the X site should be okay for dloads.
I still get regular mails from them about updates and versions.
idk.
When i get a mo i will look into it, try opening in a new tab and try again.

Ok , I have found a fairly good walk through to X BTF.
******** SPOILER ALERT **********
Have Fun
Abandoned in Space
"Okay now that you have got over the shock of just about popping you clogs, your ship no has sod all weapons, shields or any
chance of getting back to Earth.
So buckle up, the ride is one hell of thrill (well serves you right for being a test pilot!!!)". So the Teladi captain has bailed you out
with a shield to stop you blowing up and 300 credits to start making money to buy better equipment (you might run into something nasty)
Your currently in Seizewell - captial world of the Teladi (note the Ship Yard). First find a solar power plant that has plenty of stock
(these will sell them the cheapest), try going south from here to Greater Profit as its a good site for building your plants, and there is
a few solar plants. Now buy as many as you can and travel to somewhere that uses only energy cells, a mine for example. I did this
until I had doubled my money and then went and bought a SETA device, because I was getting fed up of travelling as if i was in
a zimmer frame through the system. Using the SETA unit will allow you to speed up the travelling distance (which is off putting).
Continue to do this or similar runs (involving the buying and selling of energy cells) until you have enough money to fill your cargo hold
is full of oil from a sun- oil refinery.
Do this a few of times and then upgrade your cargo hold to about 30 - 50 units. Do this until you have about 9- 10, 000 cr. Now find
a TL class transporter who is flying about somewhere in the system (large hollow rectangle on radar). Talk to him by pressing C and
then hire him, make sure he follows you. Press C again and tell him to dock at the same station as you, and then fly back through to Seizwell and to the shipyard. Dock and buy an Energy Plant (when the cargo ship is near). Go back to Greater Profit (well named) and
get your transporter to dump the Energy Plant as close to the Crystal Fab as possible, meaning a nice short flight for you to fill up your plant.
Dock with the Crystal Fab and fill up with Crystals (suprisingly enough). Dock with your Energy Plant and set the price to 8 cr. It's not a lot but it gets the transporters to come and buy your energy cells instead of going elsewhere. This should give you a fair whack of cash after doing this about a dozen times (don't panic if transporters don't come and buy your cells straight away, they will). Once you have a fair bit of credit, go buy some guns (Go to Equipment Dock either in Ceo's Buckzoid, North then West from Seizwell). I would advise buying several different plants and putting them all in the same system because then your transporters from your other factories
can buy your stuff (which means that a bit of your credits are recycling through the system), but believe me its worth it.
TIP: If you have a fair bit of money, (and a good reputation with the Split - helped them out) buy a Quantum Tube Fab and put it in the Family Zein sector. You will get LOADS of CREDITS especially if you have multi- factories. Buy from an Argon Shipyard and place it in the Kingdoms End sector. I recommend you download my map, and use it as a guide to the references to systems i mention. You also have to manually fill you solar plant, as its the only one you dont get to order transports for. All your plants can be defended by you buying fighters for them. These can be used to help you also until you can get some decent shields and guns.
I suggest you spend your time going round the Teladi and Split sectors as there asre some good places, like Family Whi for the 25MW GammaThrower guns (most powerful guns) and Family Pride for Shields, Ship Yard, Equip. Dock and Target Proj. upgrade. Also the
Pirate bases at Company Pride (N Gate) and Chins Clouds (N W Gate) can be used to boost your engine and rudder speed - makes a big difference even with the SETA device.
ARGONS ON THE STARBOARD BOW
You need to find the Argon Battleship in Argon Prime Sector. Tell him you are from Earth and after a wee bit of slagging you off,
he'll tell you about about some religious freaks called the Goners. Three Worlds has Seta Boost and Equipment Yard. Kingdoms End
has the Eliptic Projector, Ship & Equipment Yards.
That's all he tells you apart from "Piss off or you'll my guns"...or something to that effect. Now go to Cloudbase South West and find
the Religious guys in their Goner Temple. Open your comms and he'll spout some religious stuff at you, and tell you about some asteroid somewhere in the Chin's Clouds Sector. Listen carefully and he'll also tell you that you need to destroy the asteroid to get the storage device free. Pirate Bases at Atreus Clouds, Ore Belt, Priest City
You need to do this with a Hornet missile found in the Paranid Sectors. Incidentally you will also need a mineral scanner to scan the asteroids in the Chin's Clouds Sector for the right one. (Buy a couple of missiles just in case you need them). Buy the mineral scanner
(if you havent already), buy the missile and head off to Chin's Clouds.
Search the asteroid field until you find the correct asteroid, and then blow it away. Retreive the data storage device and watch the funky video. Head back to the temple and he'll tell you to go and show it the Argon Battleship. They will tell you to go to the The Wall Sector and find the carrier Argon 1. Go to The Wall Sector and open your comms link to the carrier Argon 1.
Some bloke called Bandanna will appear and have a chat to you about the 'bad' Xenon. He will also set you some missions. These are, find the Ruined Gate in one of the Xenon Sectors and report back. The gate is found in the Xenon Sector West of Company Pride (6) Sector. Report back and he'll send you back Xenon territory to destroy their Solar Power Plants. You'll need BIG guns for this
(the power plants are found in the sector South of Atreus Clouds.
TIP : Don't go 'gung ho' and kill the power plants on your way through Xenon systems, even if you have big guns,
otherwise you will screw up the game and have to start over.
Destroy them and report back. TIP: Make sure you have a good reputation with all the other races as their help WILL be needed in the next mission. Also two 25MW shields and two Gamma High Energy Plasma Throwers would be handy. Try at Argon Prime (Beta HEPT), Cloudbase North West (Gamma HEPT) and Paranid Prime has the 25Mw shields. Docking Computer avail. from Emperor's Ridge (Paranids).
Pistols at Dawn
Next mission. Convince the other races to join the Argon and yourself in an attack on the Xenon mothership. This is found in the Xenon Sector directly South West of Thuruk's Beard Sector, and it is VERY BIG. He will tell you where to pinpoint your attacks on the mothership (this involves taking out its big guns so the other races ships can blow it to pieces. DO NOT LET THE ARGON 1 BE DESTROYED IN THIS ATTACK. Once this is done you need to escort the Argon 1 back to Argon Prime which is one hell of a trek
for such a slow ship. It takes HOURS and won't go through a gate unless you go through it first. Trick is to go through all the
Xenon Sectors before the attack on the Xenon mothership and take out ALL the Xenon Destroyers.
TIP:Upgrade the speed of your ship until it matches the speed of the destroyers. It will involve a lot of money for this upgrade as it will need to be done about 15- 18 times. Once all the destroyers are destroyed go round all the other races and convince them to join you, and then head for Thuruk's Beard Sector, and go through the South Gate. Once the mothership has been destroyed you still have to protect the Argon 1 from fighter attack, all the way back to Argon Prime (remember to through each gate first). Once you are back at Argon Prime Sector hail the Argon 1 and he will tell you that you are stuffed about getting back home, but as a consolation prize he dumps two 125MW shields and three Gamma HEPT lasers (I don't know why he dumps three as you've already got two- maybe so you can take off the ones you have and sell them and get a wee bit more cash?). Anyway that's ALL FOLKS, enjoy the Elite-ness of the rest of the game.
Respects to Mogsy for supplying walkthrough.
