    Dear Players,


    First of All, I want


    to apologize to everyone who showed today at 8pm GMT, 29/10/2005. We have like 18 players


    just in the Assault Event at the Colleseum. at 9:10 pm GMT my broadband conection was lost.


    I call my broadband provider and they told me they were sorry but the main server could not


    assign any IP to the people on the area I live. They were working to solve the problem but


    it would take several hours. As for now, I still without internet at home so I have to


    connect from my office which I have another broadband company. I understand if everyone is


    $%&/% at me casue it seems that for some reason (maybe some one cursed an spell on me, even


    though i dont believe in magick) all doors are closing to my face to get this event


    going.


    Im not a negative person because from all adversity I always think I got


    something good. From last event, we got last set of rules which for the 1st round on todays


    event were working pretty good. There is only 1 rule that, if you still accept me, I will


    work on changing it ( Ill talk about that on another post) Todays events was going to be


    great, just 1 exception. Maybe in the heat of the Battlet you didnt notice, but you were


    shopting down an admin and major event manager. I told you not to shoot him who callsign was


    Event_team1 . Next time listen to the event manager or you will be call it


    out.


    Another point was PPCs, I dont know is my team didnt observe the rules on that


    (I will ask Petrus later) but 1 from Segema team were sitting out of BS range destroying my


    BS hull and nothing i could do cause my defender were busy shooting other enemies. On the


    other hand, I have to congratulate CZ_Falcon and CZ_Honda cause they observe the rules.


    Eventhough I could shot them down with my BS, CZ_Falcon came through again and shot the


    Tyrius BS :)


    On my team, I want to apologize to you again, DC and Pia are great clans


    and you fight well brothers. Also Serv did a good joob. There were other people without clan


    tag who did well but in the heat of the battle I could not pick right their names.


    On


    the opposite team, congratulations, great attackers and cool defenders :) Petrus team always


    give his best. I apologize to you too guys. About todays battle, as soon I contact anyone I


    would be given the prize to the right winner (so Far was Segema team before I lost my adsl


    connection)


    The Assault Event needs many thing to be improved and worked on.


    Especially on situation like the one happen today on me. We need to improve a lots of thing


    like the starting time of the event. It was 9:10pm and just 1 round. ABout the round rules,


    I could see beyond and share OP idea but we have to work on that in order not to become a


    respawn killer exploit. But I still see great things.


    So guys I hope you forgive me


    and sort things out so the next event would be better :)

    Battleship are almost all of them bugged. Reliant, from what


    I know, is the less bugged battleship. The main reason for this thead is to state bugs on


    fighters and freighters. I am testing every ship in CF Single player now cause I found some


    discrenpancies among them in mp. So, if anyone has come to cross with any bugged fighter or


    freighter, an input on that would be appreaciate it :)

    everyone,


    It is not easy to keep a community toguether. Ive been in several forums,


    where some of them were Fl mod forums, and they dont last long. It is not because the game


    got more sophisticated or better than old one, it is just because people are looking for


    something new and they dont find it. Yes, people change from game to game because, lets face


    it, while the graphics are improved, their playability and contest are not something new. So


    they move on until they found something could be new, tested for some months, and put it in


    the big box (believe me, I own 138 different original games) plus so many others i


    downloaded before, to check on them if they are worth buying it (I have a total of 361


    games) Guess what, I havent bought any new games for a long time cause graphics are


    astonishing but playability same or even worst than the old ones. So the main point is what


    make people to play for a longer time any game, the answer is simple: The Community. Today


    we have the advantage of multiplayer games through the internet (something that before was


    limited by lan users) and in these online games you start to relate to other people, start


    to be part of a community different from your surroundings. The game itself plus the mod, in


    freelancer case, just do 50% of the job to hook you up and keep hooking you up to the game


    for a while. The community, do the other 50% to keep it you hook up for the longest time.




    Crossfire is the greatest mod in freelancer (no offending other modders who made


    extraordinaies mods themselves) But in time, the mod itself and forum will die if the people


    willing to give a little more do not supported it. Nitro is right, not to many people would


    have the time or their willing to spend 1 day work on something extra. But there stilll


    people willing to do that, so if you find at least 5 or 6 people to give their time to help


    you, should try to work with them.


    ABout OP requests, all of them we were asked for.


    But also, almost all of them were answer to and i can recall few names written in that


    thread that i wont mention them now.


    About the events in one way or another, events


    have been going on for 2 weeks now. Even more, some of us have to reinvent them because we


    didnt have the same resources we had in the old times. Even more, some of us has sacrifice


    our own playability in the game to make the event happen (without any experience at all)


    Even more, some of us has put game credits out of our own game pocket :)


    About the


    script, at least one person offer his service not using the easy manbo jumbo for scripting


    but using the real thing.


    One thing I have seen is the lack of publicity, not easy


    to pm everyone to tell them come to your event. Not easy task at all, but wherever was good


    or bad I can say some of us took the time to do that getting at least 10 people on the first


    encounter and up to 20 people on the last one. So publicity was good. One thing we need to


    improve are the rules for each event and they should be an sticky on event rules. Event


    manager should revise themand then they should be kept as long as possible without changing


    them so player wont get confuse (it happen to me and it was a big mess)


    About


    meeting, irc is one of the oldest but most effective way to get in touch to a big group. An


    sticky of how to use an irc is not a bad idea and it is something that should last forever


    in the forum if irc would be the way to organize important meetings. To that sticky, i


    would include the server and channel address if they are going to be same almost all


    time.


    About the last meeting, what could I say, I was the only freelancer there, but


    we were 8 people (cause a member of SG was there too) willing to help the server and some of


    them were holding events and so many questions t ask to improve them.


    If we were


    check the log, even if some events have not gone our way, they did help to increase the


    number of players online in CF server. I had 20 people on saturday event including myself,


    plus there were other 10 people freelancing CF. A total of 30 people, it has been a while


    since i saw that here.


    I can understand frustration when we dont get what we


    expected. I have to run 2 different companies for a time of 12 years starting a 23 (cause


    my parents dies and i have to take over family business) and I usually dont get what I


    expected from my employs or different situations but I have learned to take the best from


    the worst situation and move on trying to do a good job for my clients. But there is one


    important thing, I have to have faith and believe that I will do the task at hand, no matter


    the problem or incovinience, I have to believe that I will overcome to deliver and God has


    been always my strength to overcome adversity and accomplish my goals. If we loose interest


    on what we are doing, we lose it all cause every detail, every circunstances would take the


    best of us and will be considering tha situation we got into a hopeless case.


    So my


    final advice:


    @the 8 people at meeting: no matter what happen at the meeting, those


    8 people who show there, dont lose their faith, lets try to work out a solution and still


    helping this server the best way each one of you know of.


    @OP: you create you this


    mod. If for some circunstances, you feel annoying by thinking: people dont care. you have


    several options, but i will stay the 2 more positive:
    1.- Get back on your feet and dont


    lose your faith and the interest to this community so we can evolve from our


    mistakes.
    2.- If your angry is greater than your faith in the community, delegate to


    someone else to lay out meetings, etc to help the future of CF to develop. Of course, you


    will brief this delegate of what is need it and how you think it should be done.

    Due to some confussions and issues with the rules, the assault event didnt go as well as we


    want it to be. Eventhough I think we got some fun out of it.


    As for now, all rules


    posted here wont apply except for the ones in the NEW THREAD for the Assault Event to be


    held every saturday.


    Because of all this, every team got their 50 million credits for


    their participation in the last event. Player that havent get their money please pm when Im


    online.

    The


    Assault Event will be held every saturday a 8pm GMT at the colleseum (pass by the


    arena)


    From now on, this are the only rules to be apply to the Assault Event after


    they had been disccused with the event managers:


    1st.- 2 Teams, 1 for each planet


    andeach have to dock at their home planets before the event starts.


    2nd.- Every team


    will have 1 BattleShip and the rest would be fighters. They would set the team layout by


    dividing them in 3 groups:
    a.- Scouts
    b.- Defenders
    c.- Attackers


    3rd.-


    We will have several rounds during a time period of 90 min. The objective of each round is


    to destroy the enemy Battleship. When 1 Battleship is destroy, each team return to their


    started position and the next round will begin.


    3rd.- Players from each team can not


    dock at the enemy planet.


    4th.- Each BS kill will be count as 1 point for the killer


    team


    5th.- PPCs are allowed to use just at Battleship range. Otherwise the player


    will be called it out.


    6th.- No nanobots neither shield batteries are


    allowed


    7th.- BattleShips can stay out to a maximun range of 6k from their home


    planet.


    8th.- No cruise speed for Battleship are allowed but they can change position


    at normal speed.


    9th.- It is not allowed for players to leave the sytem for


    reload.


    10th.- The event managers will fly the Battleship for each


    team.


    11th.- The respawn will be unlimited.


    These rules were made after a


    careful consideration by the event managers and nulify any other rules posted before these


    ones. For now on, the assault Event will be held under, and only under, these rules until


    further notices. These rules will be repeated 15 min before the events begins. If a player


    gets late to the event, if his responsability to read the rules at the forum under server


    news.

    Dont miss the Assault


    Event, today 22nd 8pm GMT, Colleseum (from Arena system)


    Same rules as last saturday


    except for


    - Respawn. Just 5 respawn per player allow on each round, except, of


    course, for the battleship (a dead battleship would be a lost round for that team)


    -


    Player can have their team layout the way they want. Example, for a 6 player team, a good


    team layout would be:
    - 1 scout
    - 2 defenders


    - 2 attackers
    - 1 Battleship (a must - the flag)
    but as


    I said you could choose a different layout.


    - PLayer start by docking on their


    defending planet (including the battleship). Remember, the main objective is to protect the


    battleship at all cost. Then, except for the battleship, fighters could go to the enemy


    lines to start fighing and trying to destroy the enemy battleship, plus even dock in the


    enemy planet for respawn (just 5 per round, dont forget that)


    - The battleship can


    not leave its defending zone around his team planet until all his team fighters are gone


    (deplite the 5 respawn policy) Then, two things are allow for the remaining Battleship:


    - go to the enemy lines and start to attack in order
    to destroy the


    enemy battleship to win the round
    - go to the enemey planet and try to dock in


    order
    to win


    - If the 2 Battleship are just the one left in the field


    they could choose doin each of the above option ( trying to kill each other or take the


    enemy planet by docking)


    - All weapons are allow


    - the event will be going on


    for 2 hours. After that, the event will be over and the team with more round will be our


    winner :)
