When I try changing the UI during installation, it doesn't change in game. I downloaded and installed crossfire 2.0.1 and whenever I select the vanilla UI, and also blue particles, its like it just installs to the vanilla crossfire settings. And I'm not sure how to fix it. Even when I change it in the launcher it still defaults to original settings (example, I selected classic cursors but it still comes up with Crossfire Custom Cursor). I'm also running as administrator.

  • the blue particles and vanilla ui are the stuff from the original game

Other options provide the new stuff.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • What I'm saying, is I'm trying to SELECT the vanilla options, but once I get back into the game, the options keep reverting to the orange UI & green particles.

Would you like me to screenshot or video record the problem?

  • maybe that can help

  • Do you I mean the original freelancer folders and files? What I've tried to do is install freelancer using the .ISO provided through the discovery mod, and for some reason when I try to install it using the EXE normally when I mount the iso, it says that I need administrative privileges. However, when I do run as administrator everything seemingly seems to install fine. Just currently uploading the youtube video, you'll hear from me in a bit. (I also restarted PC).

Freelancer works on its own. Run straight through EXE in program files.

  • Ok, let me do the replies for your comments later this week. I am a bit short on time today but I think there is plenty of stuff I can answer there.

About the UI I would say that the installer did exactly do what it was supposed to do.

The classic Freelancer UI that was selected is the blue one shown in the video. The difference you noticed is the fonts color but that actually is not part of the UI. It is a separate setting not entirely connected with the interface of the game. Same applies to the mouse cursor (well, partly at least).

I did not include options to change that stuff back to vanilla look but it most certainly can be done with the next big release of the standalone installer.

I can provide the files to do such a change manually if you want. That is not a big deal actually.

UI in the end only changes the look of the backgrounds of all the interface elements.

  • Oh, haha, thank you. Can you send me the files to do it manually, please?

    1. Do we have a supposed ETA for the next release?

    2. Will the Crossfire Launcher notify me when the update is available?

    3. Can we see some comparison videos/images of the various ReShade/ENB presets?

Thank you so much for your help!

  • 1. No, I don't know when the next update will be released. That highly depends on my free time and the tech problems I might run into.

    2. The launcher won't notify you but it will automatically start downloading the files when they are available.

    3. Since the shader options highly depend on the hardware this could be tricky.

And are you saying that we wouldn't have to check if the update is released and that the launcher will give us all the necessary files of the next release?

  • This should revert everything to the vanilla settings.

I would advice to make backups since I did not test these files. In theory it should work but who knows.

Also, is there a way to disallow the updater to update certain files? Reason I ask, is because everytime I add console.dll to the dacom.ini the launcher always updates this file. (I have added a console.dll btw.)

  • the files actually should work... unless the launcher instantly overwrites these files (did not check that)

And no there is no way to disallow the launcher to update files. That would potentially cause major problems like crashes.
