    did you load from a mission generated savegame or the autosave?

    autosave contains lots of junk that could cause it

    1. The game's AI has a bug, even if you deviate a little from the mission course, it will be reported, then lost. Omega-41 (sector F3) Utopia jump hole.

    you are not supposed to leave the mission path at all

    if the game tells you to do something... then you should do that.
