Can you provide a zip instead of installer? Installer does not work on Linux (WINE)

  • I'm trying to play on Linux via wine, Freelancer itself works great but I cannot install crossfire due to a problem with the installer.

The installer provided crashes at the "Select components to install..." stage. Is it possible to just get a zip file rather than the installer? An flmod version would also work.

Alternatively, what compression method do the two .bin files use? I quickly tried to manually extract them but they're not just zip files.

  • Nevermind, I've found a workaround the installer has a few command line switches and it's possible to bypass most of the UI. For anyone who might find it useful:

    wine Crossfire2Setup.exe /SILENT

  • the installer is required as it does some operations during installation that are required to run the mod (while i have to admit that these operations are windows based)

Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • Well, I managed to setup Crossfire after unpacking the installer with innounp, downloadable from the net. Then I have installed the vcruns and the .net in playonlinux, using wine 3.0.2, manually copied the mod in the installed FLMM mod directory and regedited the font in the registry. The mod is working great, except for some graphical errors in playtime ( screen garbled and hud text invisible, posted a thread in technical support for advice).

Thank you all for a great mod, I am grateful to be able to play it.

    Regards,
