Anybody have any good resources or suggestions for wannabe shipwrights? I found one or two tutorials but they seemed a tad Mickey-Mouse for any serious modeling.
In college and when I worked as a mechanical engineer I was a wiz at solid modeling. But it's been a few years since I did 3D modeling, and I really don't have the patience to ferret out all the necessary steps and the most useful tools to integrate a physical ship model into Freelancer. I have some pretty interesting ship ideas drawn up, but I have no desire to spend hours deciphering the routine for building it into a Freelancer-friendly file. (Besides, others have already figured all that out.:D)
I guess I am saying, I would like to try my hand at modeling ships, but I am too damned lazy and unmotivated to do any extensive legwork in learning the ropes.
...Or perhaps I am just averse to tedium.
If anyone has anything that will catapult me into the region of basic understanding, I would appreciate it.
