I am a bit disappointed by the latest reports about cheats on the server.
Not because of the claim itself but because of the way it was done.
The question that I have to ask myself now is if clans have the right to judge about other clans.
That is unfortunately exactly what is happening right now.
Up to now i had the impression that only the server staff has the right to do such a judgement.
Maybe I was wrong with that.
But if that is the case... if I was wrong with my impression the logical consequence would be that every clan could point their finger at another clan and claim them to be cheaters.
Investigation of the GRs or the Admin would not be required.
Are we really going to go this way?
Do we really want that?
I received the first cheat report 3 days ago... in private... which was ok.
The ticket is still open as the claim was under technical investigation.
What happened today... happened on a different forum... it just swapped over here as it was public over there.
Question is... still... do we really want that?
Clans accusing other clans?
Are you actually aware of the consequences?
If we start such a which hunt now this will go on until nobody is left... and many people from clans tried to cheat over the past months.
Ban them all?
Most clans would seriously need to clean up their member lists afterwards... and PX is not excluded from that.
He who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones.
Hunting cheater and judging about them is not the job of any clan out there. It is the job of the server staff... and we would do that job if we would get the chance to do it.
Regarding the 2 cheat reports:
1. the cloaked ship which got hit by a CD
There is no known way to modify the way how projectiles track certain objects. This part is hardcoded and if any experienced modder would know how to modify something like that than we would do it.... but since we dont know a way how to manipulated that stuff it is not possible.
Furthermore I have to add that the missile calculations are done on the server side... which on one side means manipulations are not possible and on the other side explain why a cloaked ship was still targeted.
2. the speed hack
Since I am unsure if i can actually see anything on the vid -> very hard to tell considering that the vid was taken in turret mode with floating camera.
However the claim will be investigated based on the submitted materials.
