Odd Not-quite-a-crash Situation; something's getting left behind.

  • I had freelancer with crossfire mod installed and running fine, but I wanted to explore some of the options that seem to only be alterable during the mod's initial activation. I deactivated the mod, uninstalled it, uninstalled FLMM and Freelancer (including the lingering Microsoft Games folder in My Programs), then reinstalled everything and activated the mod with the options I wanted. It froze at the title screen (the one between the movies and the main menu). I tried (mostly for laughs) to start the game, then alt-tab over to another program for a bit, then alt-tab back to freelancer. It worked, but the game was impossibly slow, we're talking framerates in the seconds-per-frame range. I tried another fresh install and noticed that the icon for the fresh install of freelancer is the one from the Crossfire version. Clearly there's something that's been left behind, but I can't begin to imagine where it could be.

    I'm using:
FLMM 1.31 (I think, it's the recomended one either way and I'm terrible with names.)
Crossfire 1.82 (Or was it 1.85? Again, terrible with names but it's the one that's a gig and a half.)
Windows XP service Pack 3 (Originally was service pack 2)
The computer's pretty old, but that wasn't an issue when I first used the mod. I just lowered the graphic settings and that took care of any performance issues so it's not age.
