'you must be more friendly to buy weapons'

  • You need to restart your character while you're docked. Press F1 / Select New Character / And select the same character

  • It still says that I must be more friendly.

Maybe worth mentioning; when I started playing this mod (just recently), it said 'you must be level 2' with a lot of weapons sold at Planet Manhattan (and other stations), it was multiplayer with the same character as I have now. I than accidently started Crossfire singleplayer, and quit to start Crossfire multiplayer and than I saw that it was 'fixed'. Instead of saying 'you must be level ...', it than said 'you must be more friendly' (like it still does).

I hope I'm clear, my English is not always great.

  • Hm, weird...

Have you tried undocking after restarting your character?

  • Yes. I also did some more jobs to increase the reputation more, but that didn't/doesn't tackle the problem. Do I perhaps need a licence to buy high level class weapons? Thanks for taking the time btw.

  • Hm... weird. ... and no, you don't need a license. The licenses are for Role Play.

Do you have another character with which you can try buying these weapons?

If not , you can ask any player in the server to buy them for you.

  • If I may ask, to what extent is your reputation friendly with the Bounty Hunters? It has been a long time since I last tried to convince a standoffish faction to sell me equipment, but maybe the problem is that your standing with them is not high enough to gain access to their top-tier equipment. So when you say that you are friendly with the group, do you mean that you are just barely considered friendly by them or that you are close to entirely-allied with them?

  • Almost entirely-allied and I may also not buy class 6 weapons from that base. In vannilla freelancer I could buy top-tier weapons with this rep.

@Crysis "If not , you can ask any player in the server to buy them for you. ", thanks for the tip.

  • Well , as I have no idea how to fix it, neither others(as it seems), my suggestion is this: Find someone in the server and ask him to buy them for you ;], instead of wasting your whole time for just trying to fix some reputation with a fraction

  • Well I would do that if the bug only is for one faction, but with all factions I have this bug. I noticed that everytime I create a new player, the bug occurs that for a higher class weapon (e.g. class 3 Lavablade or class 3 Justiss or higher) I require a level (just like in Freelancer singleplayer). I think that somewhere with creating the character the bug is created. I also noted that this guy also has the problem You must be on friendlier Terms.... and the problem occured also with some other mods (not with me thought, but with other people), I think it is glitch in Freelancer but I don't know for sure. Anyway, thanks for the help.

  • Yes, I also had some glitches. Like when I create a new character(more than 5) and when I login with it, it kicks me out in less than a minute. So, I presume your account is also some kind of bugged. Can you try with a different account?
(And I hope you have your ID written, if not, you can see it in Microsoft Games/Freelancer/EXE/myflaccountid.hta , for the current account)

Creating a new account can be made when you create a new Windows User account. Then take the FL as a shortcut on the desktop(or just run it from the folder itself) and you'll get a new ID. Your original ID(from your first account) will remain in your main Windows User Account. So, you can have 2 or more IDs in CF(created per Windows User Account). Or just use the program Freelancer Account Manager. Both works though.

  • Oddly enough, when I got the mod installed I had a similar problem. Any weapon over class 2 either had a level requirement or stated the need to be on friendlier terms with the faction to buy; all vanilla ships were unavailable on account of level requirements, as were any looted guns of class 3 or higher, yet ships added by the mod were not having this problem at all. When I restarted my PC the problem went away so it is hard to say what happened. Some other issues popped up too, but are unrelated to the subject here and do not seem to have a major effect on the quality of gameplay.

Anyway, I imagine you have already turned off your computer at least once since the problem first arose so this probably isn't of much use, but hopefully you will be able to find a solution so that the mod is more playable for you. :\

  • Hey I found sort of 2 solutions (not really perfect solutions, but they do help):
