communication breakdown

    Just started multiplayer and I keep getting these text messages to me on screen in game,can someone tell me how to reply?
    Also I had a load of different guns which I had picked up but was not using and suddenly they have all dissapeared!!!
    What is going on! is this normal in multiplayer? I've respawned and my Hydroxin Thruster has also vanished!

    Welcome to multiplayer vardek. First of all, if u die and have any unmounted equipment or cargo, it is lost once you respawn. Secondly, to reply to messages people send u, u have to assign a key to open the chat box where u can type ur message. U can do that by going to the Multiplayer section of the controls menu. As for your hydroxin thruster, that story remains a mystery. I once lost 2 power generators for an unknown reason. One minute they were there, next minute after i undocked, they were gone.

    not to correct Vishnu at all, but the default key for opening the chatbox is " Y " key. then click on the player or channel you wish to speak in, press Enter/Return key and start typing. press Enter/Return key again to send your message.

    Vishnu. Usually you dont have to assign a key to open the chat window. if you dont mess with the default settings (in the first place) the default key is always Y.


    when you change the key settings, in order to make your own setup to have a more comfortable key setup ingame, and you accidently (or purposely) assigned the Y-key to something else, it will show you a message like (this key is already assigned to 'open chat window' - with the option to cancel or to continue (or something similar)) Then ofc you have to assign a key for the chat-window option (in case you wanna use it)



    Vardek. On the other hand you dont need to open the chat window to reply to a particular player ingame.


    just hit -enter- then use the arrow up/down keys until you have the right name (you wanna respond to) selected


    type your message (which also works when you first type the message and then hit the arrow keys to select the right name you want to send the message to)


    hit -enter- again and the message has been sent to the receiver of your choice



    a little side note. as more players are online as longer it can take to have the right name selected in that way. ;)


    but at least you dont have your whole screen filled up with the chat window
