Single Player crash

    everytime i try to start single player it crashes....i checked if restart.fl was in the right spot an it is, i have it set as run as admin and did a fresh install after i cleaned my comps reg,cach, and temp...and it still wont work on single player...ideas?



    also when i try to start mutiplayer it says name already on the server and ive tried some names that i know no one has like random numbers an letters

    Do you use OpenSP or regular "story" SP ??? For "restart.fl" i suggest you either delete it or move it AWAY from the saved games folder. its a well known issue that causes the game to crash after you activated a mod. be sure to remove old save games too ! (keep a backup if you wish) Does it work in MP ? Can you create a char and launch to space with it ? If MP works then there might be a problem with only the SP part that others may help more than me... Hope this helps ! Otherwise, give us some feedback ! ARROW out-

    no i cant get online either when ever i try to make a char it says names already in use even when i put something as random as "lsdhfdj835672" same message...i can post a screeny if u want

    ok so it works now but i still cannot make a char on any of the servers

    so i did a scan/cleaner an defrag, fresh install ned DL of FLMM an CF set options normal on all except open SP. i found the 24/7 Crossfire server on the list but its greyed out like an incompatible build....im so confused an i really wanna play this game, im an 8 year vet of FL an have heard extremely good things about CF

    if u start single player from the launcher u cant play multi and the server will be grayed out.

    so i started from scratch an uninstalled everything


    scanned


    cache cleaned


    reg cleaned


    install FL


    install FLMM


    DL CF


    install CF


    check the server an its still greyed out

    Have you downloaded CF 1.8 or 1.81 ??? There was an previous version with number 1.8 but has been replaced by 1.81 to force ppl to redownload to have the latest fixed version... You need to use the latter to play. I doubt you have 1.8 cause it was removed from dl in january but you may have an old version.... just a little check...

    is your mod in the right folder??. After installing from the .exe installer I got a simmilar problem (think I put in the wrong path). After activating the mod it installed in a subfolder called 'mod' ,instead of overwriting the gamefolders. It started ok but gave the wrong version (1.0). After undoing the mod and moving some of the folders in the flmm mod folder it installed fine..

    Wappie this is a very old thread, if you had looked at the date stamp on the posts. this problem likely was fixed long ago ( back in april i assume).

    Still interesting to inform how he solved the problem :)
