Do you have any firewalls or anything installed?
-
I have Symantec - however, Freelancer/crossfire have already been unblocked
-
Try checking your firewall and make absolutely sure that it is unblocked, then restart your computer. That might help but I cant promise anything
-
didn't work...still acts like it's connecting to a non existent server...also, the singleplayer doesn't seem modified now that i look at it closer
-
please use alt-tab when u see this "looking for global server list" - ur firewall may have put up a requester window...
if u see the CF loading or the CF menu screen, then CF is installed. check the news in the bar to see for some CF news... - the single player story line is not changed by the mod
-
Yes it's installed correctly, i get the "crossfire main menu" and whatnot...i had already unblocked the server whilst the "contacting global server" was up, i must be not seeing something very basic [46]
EDIT: could it be possible i need to patch freelancer itself? as far as my crossfire versions are concerned - 1.6 launcher and 1.7 game. Freelancer version is still 1.0 though.
-
u try to run ur own server? in this case i must inform u that the necessary files to do this r not included in the CF client version download. OP wants ppl to play on his public CF server, not on an own LAN server.
-
I have not tried running a lan server, however i tried to run a public server through FLMM. This was after attemping to find the Crossfire server first.
-
please make sure u did click on "LAUNCH Crossfire Multiplayer" for the server - "LAUNCH Crossfire Singleplayer" will just launch the game in a mode that is incompatible to play MP
please try to click on LAN instead of Internet for a try..
else: please make sure u followed the "Installation Instructions" in the CF Guide
-
LOL....i solved the problem....DUMBEST THING EVER
i had the "Crossfire" folder in the mods section of FLMM, not the "Crossfire 1.70" folder so it wasn't reading the directory correctly...wow
i told you i was just missing something basic -
This is one of the problems I posted last month on my CF Problems thread.
You are not alone, many of my friends have had the same problem and far worse. There is a solution but it isnt sanctioned.
Check my thread for full details.

Which Internet Explorer versions are running on your Systems Guys?
