A mining initiative by the Starship Enterprises faction has ended successfully, with the establishment of a new asteroid base in the LP 339-7 system.

Independent miners delivered large quantities of construction materials, which were used to complete construction of the new installation. The starport Miner Prospects has now opened for business in the planetary ring of LP 339-7 4.

Company CEO Dr Lewis Chapman held a press conference to thank those involved:

"The new base will offer much-needed resources to the system's outer reaches, and act as the headquarters for our SE Mining division. I never doubted the galactic community's response, and it is a humbling thing to see in action."

Commanders who contributed to the campaign can now collect their rewards from Gell-Mann Ring in the LP 339-7 system.

Five new patrols are coming to Star Trek Online, bringing new challenges and story to the universe. J’Ula, sister of T’Kuvma, is on the march once again. She is seeking the spores of prototaxites stellaviatori to fuel her devastating new superweapon. With the aid of Lt. Commander Paul Stamets and Captain Kuumaarke, captains can stand tall in the fight against the dangerous matriarch of House Mo’Kai. We’ll be revealing the new patrols one at a time in the lead up to Awakening – check back with Startrekonline.com for more! Sentinels A research facility on a small moon in the Donatu System is studying prototaxites stellaviatori. Deploy defense satellites to protect the unarmed facility from raiders. You will first be able to access these new Patrols from your mission journal after completing the episode “Beneath the Skin.” If you are on a Patrol mission from the journal, have completed it, or

As part of our upcoming Season 18 release, we’re making it quicker and easier to play our new patrols. Alongside the launcher for TFOs is a new launcher specifically for patrols, where you can find a list of the new bite-sized content. Simply click on the PVE Operations button, select the Patrols panel, and you can see a list of the new patrols and launch to any one that you want to play. No need to fly around sector space hunting for the right place—the new interface will take you there immediately. You can launch into a patrol by yourself with no delay, or team up with friends and go as a group. Once you finish, you’ll return to wherever you left off. You’ll notice that these patrols appear in the mission journal as well, as part of the “J’Ula’s Discovery” mission group. This means that you’ll be guided through the patrols, and the first time that you play each one as part of

I am very excited to finally be writing this announcement: We are moving the events to a new home in the UI! Moving and updating the event system is something we have been discussing internally for quite some time. As you all know, the events used to live as a single tab within the reputation section of the UI. This was fine but always felt like we had hijacked another (more complicated) system for what should be a fun and simple part of the game. I am incredibly happy that we are finally updating this system. Seasonal Events are one of my favorite things about MMOs. The best part is all the hype and excitement; “The Winter event starts today! Wee!!! Everyone log in and let’s go /dance in the snow!” I always felt that the STO events were lacking this extra bit of presentation, they never felt “special” enough. I am happy to say we have finally carved out a space to make them feel more

Good evening MUP fans! If you were at the party you probably saw this, but if not, we have a Beta 1 release candidate ready for you to try. We are officially moving to Beta as we are largely feature complete on engine and graphics upgrades. The only remaining work is art-based stuff. There is one pending feature: extending dead capships to WCP - which we are currently testing, hence why this is only a candidate and not an official full release.

    Features include:

    • Corvette shield/hull fix - now once a corvette's shields are down, the engine registers

Here are this week's main stories.

The Alliance Festival of Culture's fifth week has focused on theatre and dance. Crowds travelling to New Caledonia in the Tionisla system have enjoyed a wide variety of performance art shows, ranging from full stage productions to amateur street acts.

The Fortunes Corsairs faction has announced a successful conclusion to their appeal for food deliveries in the Chamas system. A new starport has been built in Chamas, following the well-received grand feast attended by many government officials.

Finally, the Starship Enterprises faction has issued a public request for mined resources. The intent is to build a new asteroid base in the LP 339-7 system, which would serve as a portal for increased trade and industrial operations for residents.

And those are the main stories this week.

Very soon, Captains among the ranks of the Federation, Klingon, and Dominion factions will be gaining access to most of the Romulan Republic’s fierce fleet of starships. This includes many legendary Warbirds, and a number of other Romulan starships. Though these vessels have been restricted up until now, the galaxy is heading in a direction of increased cooperation and sharing of technology, and the Republic has been benefiting from those arrangements for some time. Their leadership has decided it’s time enough to return the trust that has been shown to them, and allow their trusted allies the opportunity to test out their Singularity technology and specialized starships. We will be removing the faction restrictions on nearly all starships that have been previously restricted solely to the Romulan faction. Any ship previously available only to Romulans will now be available to any member of

    Christian Klein

posted this fun shot of the cover of the Japanese DOS/V user manual. It's an interesting line art digitization of the WC1 box. The typed-in dashboard values mostly match up, although I think the KPS looks more like 2400 than 2480 and the bottom shield stat seems more like an 82 in the original. It might seem obvious at first that this is just the same iconic scene we always see, but this isn't the only time a familiar WC cockpit bears down on three Dralthi! Mike Winterbauer's famous

    SNES art

    and the

    cover of End Run

    are just a

    few alternate examples
