By that screenshot it seems that you don't have a wider view than in a normal situation, as I can notice the station, and a bit on the planet, that the whole image is like, stretched to be wider, but you see the same things/distance as a normal screen setup. So I guess it isn't something unfair.

Yes, default works just fine even for widescreen monitors, like mine.
