As far as I understand: if you upgrade from Windows 7/8.0/8.1 to Windows 10, it will be free of charge (even there will be some updates later). But this is only for first year. Of course you have to pay for Win 10 when you buy it "fresh" from Media-Markt/Saturn/Amazon, etc..

In my opinion Windows 10 biggest problem is that you can't deactivate "automatic Updates".If one of updated corrupt you will have a big problem! This is one of the reason why I won't install W10 when available.
