  • I have mixed feelings about it.Sure it is good to have Picard back but just like with the Discovery series I have the feeling that the story is being told in an over complicated way.It already started this way in episode one where Picard finds out more about that girl just to see her being killed a few moment later. The story then moves on to tell the audience that she has a twin sister and now the twin sister is the important part of the show. That is an unnecessarily complicated way of telling…
  • As you have stated... there were many threats in the past... threats that killed millions... devastating wars even.Multiple attacks on Earth. But why should an Android attack be any different and lead to isolation where all the other events of the past did not change the Federation. The federations best defense always was their growth, their peaceful expansion. That made the Federation strong enough to survive all the threats. And now they give up their biggest strength because of one attack? That…
  • I dont get the hostile attitude towards the romulans. They did only 2 relative minor attempts to invade the Federation. But they also supported the Federation with technology and in the end also large amounts of ships during the dominion war. Putting the 2 minor incidents aside the romulans were pretty peaceful towards the Federation for many decades.Compare that to the Klingons which on and off were at war with the Federation. If Klingons are in need the Federation jumps to help.
  • You mentioned something interesting I was thinking about earlier. All Good ThingsEspecially in episode 2 the normal Starfleet personell did wear the All Good Things combadges or at least a very very similar design.I am wondering if Star Trek Picard actually is in the prime timeline. It is very unlikely that timelines that split several decades ago and had a very different development since that, all of a sudden evolve to have similar designs.episode 3 was... mehbut to be honest the only thing tha…
  • Episode 3 was boring as hell.Episode 4 was better in that terms as story moved forward a bit. However, there was a good bunch of stuff that bothered me a bit with E04.Most noticeable is that after 4/10 episodes nothing fundamentally important happened.I would say that the show suffers a roleplay game syndrome. The main character is introduced to a so important "main quest" which actually needs to be done as fast as possible (because lives are at risk). But instead of putting all efforts in gettin…
  • Episode 5... more "forced" Nostalgia by stuff like mentioning Quark for no apparent reason (in the same way Datas cat was mentioned for no apparent reason in Episode 4). This show is about referring as often to previous shows as possible... no matter if it fits or not.E05 had "companion quests" "side quests" and a little bit of the "main quest" eventhough it was very predictable that the Scott Pilgrim drummer was working for the bad guys since the "sunglasses lady" visited her.Picard - for a fre…
  • (Quote)The reptilian guy in the bar... which was introduced as being able to smell if people lie.For some reason his smell did not work anymore when literally everyone around him were lying.Btw. I think the bar itself was called Quarks. There was a short shot of the city and i think ive read it on a holo-sign.That Borg which died... i really wondered why his eye looked organic with a few cables at the end. Borg eye implants never looked like ordinary eyes. Aside from this it did not look like th…

  • Episode 6 at least moved on the story. It was better than the previous ones. But it again was full of nostalgia elements and strange story telling.Patrick Stewards acting performance seems to suffer lately. He continuously begs a character to follow him for half a minute and it feels absolutely out of place. Just like he cant find the correct words. He suffers post traumatic stress due to the Borg... and is multiple times referred as Locutus for no obvious reasons. Picard always claimed in the old…
  • Could be his age.I just think there is a difference between fear of something existing and fear of something long gone. Picard knows that there are no more active borg on the cube. To me it looks more like a psychosis.Episode 7 belonged to the better ones so far eventhough it had elements which makes me question the consistency of the show. The flashback showed a mindmelt in which that Vulcan Admiral showed Dr. Jurati how Earth and other worlds are destroyed. Putting aside that the full context i…

  • Ive been thinking a bit about the biggest issues I have with ST: Picard.Putting the creative choices aside which make the show so different from TNG etc. there is one very specific issue I have.We are meanwhile 7 Episodes in the show... and... when I write about the show I have to google the names of the characters. Either these people are not important enough for me to remember them or something is really wrong with their introduction and the way they interact. After a 90mins movie I clearly can…
  • do i know you? I think after 7 episodes you should meanwhile be able to remember the names of the people and the ship... you should be able to care about the people that important for the show. That simply is not the case. If you take away the unimportant crew... all whats left is a very thin story that wouldnt even be enough to fill one episode.
  • Dont ask me such complicated questions. As you have pointed out, I am old.

  • *sigh* Episode 8Right on my first post on this thread I mentioned that I think the story will be told in the most complicated way possible.I guess Episode 8 was this moment. The drug addicted alcoholic ex starfleet officer cant talk to the pilot because he has his own mental crisis in his quarter, therefore she talks to the 5 different holograms of him have different personalities but were generated out of his memories in order to get information. A comedic scene that didn't feel funny... just fo…
  • For some days i cant get the holographic consoles out of my head.I know that they are a known thing since DS9... but in Episode 8 I noticed something that made me question the concept of it.The ship control console seems to change the viewpoint based on the pilots body movement. Do you know how hard it is to hit a button when the entire console is moving around? Just a random thought. The coolness factor outweighs the practicability.
  • episode 9... lolthis is so bad
  • You mean that after star trek discovery stole the story from a relative unknown video game, star trek picard went all in and stole the story from mass effect (and that in the dumbest and most boring way possible)?
