After already some years fighting with the outer galactic threat and the humans being allowed in DK space, as how fast humans are to get comfortable in every system, they already built themselves a docking ring on a DK/abandoned/empty planet as their base of operations closer to the alien treat, for more efficiency in helping DKs out.
