Yes. And I've also heard of issues with the program crashing when selecting "new game" to start the single player portion. I believe this is due to the "hardware acceleration" issue for sound cards many have experienced. For me the solution was to select "Sound and Audio devices" under windows control panel. Choose "Advanced" under speaker settings. Then click on the "Performance Tab". Once there you can use the slider to select "None" for the Acceleration option.

Cat, all of my crashing problems stemed from one of two causes. Bad install and Sound Card Hardware accelleration. Try this. Unintall everthing FL related. Delete directories and registry keys. Turn hardware accelleration off for your sound card. Reinstall FL, FLMM and CF mod. If you still experince crashing, come back here and post any events in your system logs etc. Don't give up, we'll get you going eventually.
