    Currently there are two update servers for the mod just for the case one has technical problems. As long this community is running there always will be an update server. Shaders depend highly on your Hardware. You will have to test what works best for you. All u need to do is to change the launcher options.

    The community wont go offline anytime soon. The is no real risk for that.Therefore you will always be able to update. Vanilla savegames are compatible with Crossfire.However Crossfire savegames are not compatible with vanilla FL.CF1.9 savegames are compatible with CF2.0 but CF2.0 savegames are not compatible with CF1.9.
