the fights are good the way they areif you have problems then for gods sake use the money from the start to buy some better weapons or better shipsseriouslyi have lowered the difficulty with every version alreadyif i lower it even more the npcs will explode wihout being shot at.... really its easy it also wouldnt hurt if you take a look at the combat guides
