  • But if you can't get the game and Graphic Card to work properly and automatically detect your natal/main monitor resolution, forcing the game like editing the PerfOptions.ini will also require editing the fonts.ini and cameras.ini file, to make text and panels and things look properly on your screen. There are threads on this forum which show what code to paste on there to edit them, but I don't really know which is the oney for 1920x1080, I could copy/paste the ones in my fonts and cameras ini…
  • Well, the menu sizes and such looks ok, not really stretched on those screenshots, on my monitor. Even though you say you got all settings maxed out, you, your game, uses minimal graphic settings, by what I see on how the HUD looks low def, the Planet is low def, etc, for some reason your settings are not on the right side as they should be, maxed out. If it's not the case that Crossfire was not started as Admin, and the change in video/graphic settings was not saved due to no rights (many games…
  • Did you delete the folder in My Games, in My Documents ? Anyway, you can also try using CCLeaner to clean up around (even though, to see any results you would have to reinstall, but no need for now.. until you get a better option), something is still blocking you from seeing the textures and such.
  • Ok, the last hit would be that your download is corrupt, and it was not detected when activating... try downloading the mod again, maybe from moddb, and with a download manager so that the download doesn't interrupts. For some reason I also had the boxes effect, and tried the same install on 2 PCs, and had the same on both, also, one was XP (and it worked perfectly before, on the same PC), and the other one Win 7. But then on a newer PC, I downloaded, installed, and all good O.o
  • If you really did all the Running as FLMM and CF as admin, and etc right, this is a pretty ... bad mistery... there is nothing wrong with your hardware, so something must be in the software. Is directx 9 "fixed" ? On Windows 8 there is(can ? ) some problem with old directx stuff as the windows already starts with dx 11, it was mainly downloading some file, but you have Win 7, not sure, but maybe it's still related. I needed to do that for another game, but still, it wasn't a problem for CF... B…
  • Of course not(that the vanilla game gave no problems), the original game is not as much as the Crossfire version of it, and it's made like one piece, there can't be any fails. There should still be something we are missing, or you from the FAQ and suggestions, not sure, since I (and anyone else here) don't really know what's on and with your computer. It is also possible that there is some registry which conflicts with the mod ? Not sure, maybe using CCleaner to purposedly remove registries, bu…
  • Well, maybe if you would trust one of us, one could enter your PC by tools like Teamview, and try find what is wrong, without breaking anything else... you know, sometimes it's just as if I asked you to make an edit (of the code) on my site without showing you the code at all. I am worried as it took me some time when I had that issue, so I could offer myself, but can't really guarantee it. Anyway, OP still didn't post here, maybe he finds a solution first. O.o
  • Well, maybe installing a different mod could "clean up" a bit, and then CF works... you never know Anyway, remember that deactivating the mod won't work, so don't try mixing stuff up with the new mod.
  • It's not with "some textures", since your bug is the same as when it happened to others, the thing is that something is, or was done wrong in the installation, something corrupted, or such... All CF textures were off/missing/not read.
  • Indeed, same as what happened to me on my old PC, there is something we would miss in self installed Windowses, but I suddenly got it right at a moment and I don't know what solved the issue... my book of programs to be installed was the same, but maybe the order changed something.
  • Hmm, I remember some mention of the "software mode" from a long time ago, I think it was at this game, but not sure... There is a setting at the Graphic Card driver which controls what's the default way to run games, hardware mode or software mode, try both to see how it goes. If the setting is not visible at the driver and there's no info on google about it for your card (it would be unusual tho since mine has), then the setting is within window's component services. Since on my old PC, same a…
  • GTX 650 Ti OC, works like a 660, but yeah, never had an issue with this one. Dunno why, I just installed it all the... simple way. Without touchign stuff in the driver, just OCed the CPU, and got a GPU OCer for when I need more power, but I normally keep it off, less errors, since it starts to fail, mainly because it's already OCed from the fabric. The old one was an Ati GeForce 9600 or so, also worked well, with the 128mb card compatibility... until I formatted the PC and reinstalled Windows. …
  • Yup, then it's some MISSING setting As you mainly just confirmed that newly installed Windows tend to fail at something... Did you check the software vs hardware rendering ? Mine was in the Catalyst control, on the old card, never had to search for it on the new one. But still, there should be such setting at the windows services... dunno, google should know better...
  • The game doesn't need any changes, the issue is from outside. Anyway, if you think it's because of Hi res textures (even though I think it's not about that), you can easely activate the mod using low res textures and low card compatibility, and such And see if it works better or not.
  • I actually remembered something, did you unpack the mod in the correct adress ? You don't have to change the adress at all as it needs the main FLMM folder, not the "mods" folder as some would guess, as in that case they are in a wrong order and the install will fail. It can be checked easely, look if inside FLMM's folder, right there next to "FLModManager" application, there are files like "Crossfire 1.9 website" and "SWAT Portal" and 2 uninstall apps. Then, inside the "mods" folder, there sho…
  • I just know it must work, as it CAN work, but I am not sure what caused THIS bug. Your file are correct, with the Xcrash which is from CF, or FLMM, since I got it. Are you really sure you ran everything as Admin ? xD I mean, including CF itself... We can discard that is a technical issue with hi res textures if you install CF with the low settings, Deactivating "Hi Res Effects", as well as compatibility to low cards, and such. Yeah, that option about effects should change something about it.
  • It is not an incompatibility thing, it ran on my GTX 650, it can run on GTX 680. There is some setting that is not done, and needs to be fixed...
  • It is not really a Crossfire bug... it could probably get avoided somehow, but it's supposed to be a PC issue, not Crossfire's bug.
  • Since it's a PC config issue, an uploaded game will surely not work, but just in case, nice try. SilverFox: It would be cool if you keep that folder uploaded, just in case, but it probably won't be needed for a while, so hopefully where you uploaded it, is not a limited site, or that has inactivity auto-erase or such.
  • GTX 680 must work since my GTX 650 worked. The thing is, if you seen other people's experiences above (2-3 examples), is that on the same PC, for a while, Crossfire worked just fine, then after formatting and reinstalling Windows and all, CF stopped working, giving these white boxes, white textures on characters and such. So, the graphic card definately did not suddenly lost the hi res textures support.
