You shouldn't touch the executable at all. The options are in the Freelancer.ini, for taking out the videos and such, but that's not your case/problem atm. There is a way to make Freelancer skip the hardware test, OP posted it before in a similar situation in another thread, but I don't remmember exactly what had to be edited.
