An idea to pass through that asteroid field in a short time (which is very unusual to meet aliens so fast, and even if you do, you'll get the enough distance to leave them off the radar) is this: place a waypoint to where you want to go or somewhere in it's direction(if you don't have it mapped), then cruise (F2 or normal, no matter) and keep turning a bit in any other direction arround the one you want.
