Well, the nav maps on my db look in 2 different ways... but ofc none in the new nav map looks So people can reexplore them all to update them to the last look ? Without modificating every map... except adding bigger red X to the wrecks or the alien stations with no names on system view. The older parts look like this: And the newer parts look like this: -
(Quote from Huor) Great (Quote from Shockwave) Fine for me Let Huor do it all lol... kidding...still, if we explore all the stuff wrecks and clouds(for full knowledge maps, not just bases and jumps) with normal multiplayer... it would take about a month counting as WE, not just 1 guy, and that WE also sleep and eat The navmap screenshos not only they don't need super resolution, they can't have too high resolution, as the definition is the same(above a level), jsut the size changes, and big map… -
As you can see in your examples, in fact, the maps say the same thing on higher or lower res... better located or not is not a problem as you can select a station name or something and a locator(crossbow or something) will appear on it. If it'll be an interactive wiki... At least... I can give some contributors all the maps of everything, with big red crosses on wrecks, and you reexplore it on the same resolution, on the new navmaps. It'd be better if we don't edit each map to add the names of … -
Well, some ppl's screen resolution would affect much on having over half screen filled with that map and couldn't see the rest of the info... (like portable PCs use) . Would also mean to rebuild everything from scratch, but as we do that anyway (means forgetting about the old DB ) it'd be ok on using the 600x600 one(only the map, without the borders). The idea with automatic add arround the map of the vertical and horizontal sector bars was great... (like how you see on my 2 screenshots). The D… -
I remember I posted it (the all in one map) when OP told about a newer version of altair and inner core eye candy maps, basically for Orion. ( My DB was looking the same by then, except a lil organization improve). About station screenies... hum ? people need to know what station sells what thing more (ships, equip, ammo and everything) Like you can see in the 2 screenies of this DB, you have all info about the system, then about every station in there, below the navmap picture. Still it'd be a… -
1) Yes, you may lead the info other SA members get, hopefully not only SA and CFPD (and PX ) will work on it 2) and 3) Yes, 600x600 for the map is okunless we hit some problem), no updates of other details except adding a bigger visible red X on wrecks, add the name of the alien (both hostile and non hostile like DKs) stations which don't appear on system view( if it happens for some players), and that's all for teh map. The rest of detailed info appears arround the picture, as the picture has … -
Well, we(btw me and Orion, the SA cartographer) already planned the details/requirements of the DB, if this is finished... it'd be as OP said "wit hevery bit of information", more than any DB ever made Counting that the wiki system can handle all the personalizations... it works on the html DB I have, but not sure on the cf db. When we fix the list a bit... posted, everone will know exactly what the DB needs, and everyone will have a job Clans can choose to have a representant on their clan, or… -
Ok, the system agreed is the below system for data gathering (in separated folders): ... General tips: Use 1600x1200 game resolution with max performance levels, bloom or adv shaders not needed. Folder: System name1) system map 600x600 (Needed 1600x1200 game resolution!!!!, only map area without coordinates!) + big red cross for wrecks + names for Doom and DK bases. ... those names can be acquired with cursor pointed at selected object and next screenshot this name box and add it to system map.… -
It is free... but there has to be some organization and management, to make it fast and clean, also assured the stuff was checked, and not just some memories, or old maps, or whatever issue can appear, will be sighted fast But for now, waitingg OP's words about the possibility of the DB software he told... -
You actually meant a game(s) wiki as vanilla Freelancer is now ? Not an interactive DB with everything, similar with sivosten's ? ...then... whatever... people know to explore by themselves and upload a picture and copy some text Though we were up to do something better, which beats the personal DBs so everyone come here. (if you have noticed the details of how the DB should go, on my large post... 2 posts ago) And the clans with personalized DBs use their own ones as until now... and me with m… -
If you haven't noticed in the 2 screenshots I posted about a DB, I already have the main map, with the dots DW said, and the entire system, I had the original database from sivosten, and improved it myself making it a full CF 1.8 DB, but now it's a bit outdated, and the ships are not done yet, but the maps are all compleete. (Quote from Huor) Everything was already settled above, and officially or not, between SA and CFPD we already started it, I came with all the system and many info, they com… -
Well, CFPD-SA already haveall required info on galactic and system maps, detailed info on 'The Quest' storyline and several/many-but-not-all stations info with all text and data. When the software is ready, we could start 'leaking' info.... while that DB has at least the same protection as the old CF Database, anti newbie shield -
Because you never know everything For sure yourself don't know how many tactical wrecks are in IC space... for example, and you're of our 'old beards' as you say A newbcie could know part of vanilla, some Altair systems and mayve the short path from the entrance to the exit of IC... then, (maybe after finishing the quests) and seeing the database, would discover everything else.
