  • y not using standard windows defrag tool? it does the job. it uses windows scheduler too, so it's the best solution when it comes to compatibility. if u have some good reasons, plz state them, cause, m8, there r only a few defragmenters for x64 version of windows and even those few r not so good. it would have been much better if new server's os was based on x86 version rather than x64, regardless of processor, just because of compatibility. is there no possibility to ask for x86 version of sys…
  • ok... those x64 versions of pre-vista windows r... lacky. and vista is not really a choice. but i guess it will work just fine. how about defragmenter? gonna use the one from windows? it's ok, imo, not too many options, but does defragmenting (and has less trouble with locked files, moving them too, if possible under certain circumstances; like swap file).
  • windows 2003 server x64 is almost as the same as windows xp profesional x64 in it's crappiness of compatibility with drivers and software. but anyway, if u think u will have no issues, i'm ok with that. win defrag is not ms product. it's a lite version of some early version of diskeeper, and is quite crappy version of diskeeper, but does the job in most cases (not if u r a real perfectionist, thou, and u r, op). anyway, here's what i have found to b good selection of reviews some time ago, and …
  • u r all right, ofc, but heagar has a point. if program doesn't have command parameters, win scheduler is useless, cause it can't make it work, only start, which is... useless.
  • ppl u r complicating it too much. op, if u already have a licence for o&o defrag server, just check if u can continue to use use it on the newest version without paying (check ur agreement and invoice) and finito. i don't know which version u've got, so i can't be for sure, but as far as i see, agreement might allow usage of licences on new version anyway. on the other hand, if u have to pay, jkdefrag is not great, it is more than that, so u can use it without fears (read the review, plz).
  • well: 1. u r not into paying (at least not too much),2. u r not into using cracks,3. u need a steady solution for win 2003 x64, so i propose: 1. jkdefrag (free, and good; give it a try a few months, u will see if it does the job - it does on a few sql servers i am managing),2. raxco perfect disk 2008 server (which is 99$) - my personal commercial product choice - used only once thou,3. o&o defrag 10 server (which is 249$, but quite good, thou i think perfect disk is better, have not used so far…
