it's fustrating to me to see that Crossfire gets in the top 100 of Moddb "Mod of the Year" but the discovery server is always full. although i haven't played the discovery mod myself (it had big issues with my pc), i've been told by many players that they have wierd rules and the players take the game WAY too serious.

SFP has a blog page that is still under construction but am willing to add a page for RP stuff and stories.

i've gone to other gaming websites and put crossfire's name out there (of course, to include SFP). i'll continue to visit various sites as i find them and continue to put crossfire out there. i hope it helps. any other help you need from me, let me know.

@ Raider... r u the clan leader for LP? SFP has a new forum here. also, we have an Ambassador's Office for LP. if you decide to register at SFP, i'll approve the registry and give you access to this "office". wb!

    SFP Blog page here.

i know I'm not a part of the dev team but i do have one question: in the current game, when a NPC talks, the bracket turns yellow. if you remove the brackets, does it matter if we know who is talking and who isn't?

P.S. IMO, i'd rather remove the brackets (like OP said, "more realistic") but i was just posing the question.

thanks for the info. need to really evaluate the first few months to see consumer reaction before considering an upgrade.

can anyone confirm backwards compatibility with FL CF? if there isn't, it'll be hard to play. also, anyone know the going rate for a valid copy of Win7 upon release this October?

... and this was confirmed this morning while playing about 2 or 3 hours before the server reboot at 0600 GMT. "transman" and "wizard" were attempting to trade and they continuously were getting kicked for "possible cheat" but it was because they were trying to trade. i took some screenies if you want to see them but i figure there's no point since we all now know why it happens.

if i may make a recommendation; perhaps a warning or "stickie" letting people know that this is an issue so they can learn to avoid it or at least recognize it when it happens.

thanks again for the help with this issue. i will continue to inform players as i see it occur.

@ OP, I posted a conversation about a potential trading bug that has been occuring today (10 Jul - 0430 GMT). There's a screenie attached. I wanted to let you know this is going on in case you didn't know. Click here for my original post.

i was beginning to wonder who the hell [GnS]Clan was. I kept asking everyone and no one had a clue. look forward to 1.8. screenies are awesome!

i know this topic is basically over and resolved but i would like to add one small point.

i travel through NY all the time but for one reason. i see a lot of new players flying all over NY and i try to find them (not for RP) but to ask them if they need help or if they are having any issues.

I find that when we (experienced or high level players) seek out new players, it makes them feel more a part of our community. I go out of my way to travel through NY for this sole purpose.

As for trading or transfers, i do agree with everyone's comments here and i will only make transfers to new players or new clan members while in NY and do all other business outside NY. I believe this is a fair way of doing business and maintaining the spirit of the rules we have.

I have made some updates to the OP. I hope this helps out all those that are having issues. After reading everyone's comments, it appears as though each Vista user has their own experiences with getting it to work. I've posted my version in hopes to help someone out. I'll update as necessary. Thanks for all the help!

I've read through all the tutorials, FAQ's, and helpful hints I could find on SWAT. Here's what I've done so far:

    1. Uninstalled Norton (ran a regcleaner to make sure it was gone)
    2. Installed AVG 8.0 Free --> (Uninstalled AVG and installed Avira AntiVir)
    3. Installed ZoneLabs Firewall
3a. Added server IP address as "trusted zone".
    4. Opened up router and under "applications & gaming" added the following: fls1, 2300 - 2400, UDP, [my ip address], enabled box checked.
    5. Disabled IPv6. I only unchecked the box under my wlan card properties.
    6. CF FL is running as administrator

    Here's what happens:

    1. Double click CF FL icon on desktop.
    2. Click "Allow" to run as admin.
    3. Server patches and updates run.
    4. Click Play Multiplayer and opening screens start.
    5. Click Multiplayer.
    6. Click CF FL Server
Ignore this 7. Get the "I'm sorry. The server either went offline when you tried to connect or there's an internet problem" blah, blah, blah. It never let's me connect.
    7. I'M FINALLY CONNECTED!!!

No more questions! Thanks for all the help!

My only question is, is there something I'm missing? Did I do something wrong or is Vista just being that big of a pain in the butt? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
