Thanks for all the advice - I found the Ragnarok and the disc which allowed me to go on to complete the basic Freelancer storyline - I'm now starting to get into Crossfire 1.82 and looking forward to checking out the new quests etc.

Thanks for the advice. However, I've managed to get to Sol on my way to Sovetskaya and I can't land on Earth as it's hostile to me. I've landed on Order HQ and can't find any bribes - everyone in the bar tells me nothing is happening. I've found the Dimensional Rift which I presume gets me to Styx but can't dock with it - I can't select it despite clicking all over it, both from a distance and very close up. Is it possible to get to Sovetskaya at all while still trying to complete the Basic Freelancer storyline?

Advice need please

I've started playing Freelancer with Crossfire Mod 1.82 again and loving it. I've just completed the Tekagi Transport mission and am required to go from 12000000 to 27000000 before I get to do the next mission. My problem is that I've taken a lot of Escape Pods to all of the prisons I can think of and I can't land on any of them because they're all hostile, including the ones on Vega and Neophobos - it will take an awful long time to do missions and trade to get from 12 mil to 27mil so any advice would be very gratefully received.

i've done that on every station so far - in my experience when you select a character a 'talk box' appears - if there are symbols in the 'talk box' the character has some news or rumour, if the 'talk box' is blank, character has nothing for you. First time I arrived in Sovetskaya there was a rumour, i.e. the blackbox info that meant Gurm, but I've found nothing since then.

Does this mean that it is actually possible to survive as a Singleplayer through Dom'Kavash territories?

I am currently flying Saracen with 2 El Cid guns (which destroys Shields v quickly), 4 Nomad Energy Cannons, Champion HF Shield Class 9, Extra Power Generator, 100% Extra Armour, Adv. Subspace Scanner, and 11mill in the bank.

Is it possible with this kit to navigate the Dom'Kavash systems (if I ever find the Jump Gate) and survive - if so, what's the reward?

Spent many hours playing this fantastic mod but don't want to waste time trying to do something that's impossible.

Thanks for that info - I've already landed on every station in Sovetskaya and have not found any rumours. Will that change when I arrive with the Blackbox from Styx?

thanks for the warning - I'll just have to take my chances. I have what I think is a well armed and armoured ship so hopefully it will be enough. Would it be better if I went searching for the Death Valley quest before I venture into Dom'Kavash territory? Also, why is it that I get no rumours in Sovetskaya about the Blackboxes?

I'm playing in Singleplayer mode so I'll be on my own. Do I need the coordinates in Gurm? I've found the rumour with the translation of the Blackbox which indicates Gurm but haven't found the translation for the coordinates yet - will the Jump Hole show up anyway?

I'd like some help please - looking for Blackboxes in Sovetskaya and can't find any - Sovetskaya system is HUGE. Found one in Nephele and rumour cracked code of System to go to - found one in Gladius and codes of co-ordinates still unsolved - no rumours found in any stations in Sovetskaya - found Sleeperships in Sovetskaya (MOSCOW and MINSK) but both are empty - finally found Tomsk gate and explored Tomsk, found three wrecks, now back in Sovetskaya - where or what should I do next? Great game and still love this mod!!

Thanks for the help - yes, I've been to all 9 systems in Altair but haven't searched them carefully - I've also found several wrecks. I followed another dimensional rift and found myself in Omega 11 - guess I'll have to get back to Altair and do some more exploring:))

More hints would be gratefully accepted :-))

I've been using Crossfire 1.7 since I heard about it in November 2007 - it's wonderful - it's brought Freelancer back to life for me. I've discovered and solved what I think is the first mission - finding the Dimensional Rift in Sol to the Altair systems. Can anyone give some hints/directions where to find any other Missions please?
