If you go for the gtx 460, the 700Mb version is as good to Flreelancer as the 1Gb version, and quite a lot cheaper..

You really took my mirage apart with that bullpup of yours last night ..
That thing dances ...

Good luck .. and all my well wishes.
I agree with Gunny, the field is huge, and there are a distinct (in my opinion) differecne between an application developer and a programmer/coder. (My asnwer here is from a self taught application developer, now running his own business, with develoeprs working for me, and we do development of Commercial and Custom software in Financial, Logistic, Engineering and Agricultural sectors)
One of the major things I have found over the last 20+ years, know your subject matter (the area that you are going to do development in) Clients will expect you to know at least as much as they do, or even more of a specific area. You cannot produce results with an insurance underwriter if you don't know the insurance industry.
Client know what they want, not what they need, and it's your job as an application developer to give them what they need, to satisfy what they want. (think about that for a while ) You also need to be able to negociate and be very diplomatic with clients...a skill you alread yposess, as I read your posts and interaction with you.
You also need to know you 'tools of the trade' , and I am not talking about just programming languages (those are also important), but about Software Developement Lifecycle practices and techniques. The ability to do Case Studies, Feature and Function Analysis, Business Process Analysis, converting process specs to technical specs, etc .
All of this comes with time and practice, and there is a difference in how you should approach this in theory, and how you approach it in practice.
I would suggest that you do not try and learn this on your own, but make use of the services of a professional agency to teach this to you ( and preferably also be employed in the same field at the time)
Working on projects with other team members also allows you to pick up a lot of good , and bad points of how things are done, so your 'age' (and life experience) should help you to be able to 'stand back' a bit from the immediate obvious.. and re-look at a situation from different angles and help you cater for more scenarions than someone that is not so experienced.
If you have specific questions, feel free to ask.
Obviously there is also vast differences in working as an application develoepr for a major corporation that specialises mostly on inhouse development , and a company that specialises in custom or commercial client software.
Ultimately, it's a very rewarding career, and you will not be sorry to have chosen it

Ati Radeon 5800 HD 2GB Ram
That might be your problem.......
I had the same experience as you, then i went and purchased myself as GTX 460 nvidea, and all my problems disappeared.
A quick test .. get the FRAPS program ( there is a free version) and look ingame what the fraps count is. If it's not at least 60, then you have a graphics card problem. http://www.fraps.com
Also look that you have the latest drives from the manufacturers, and not from microsoft.

Running XP compared to Windows7 is like going into space with a V2 rocket as compared to the space shuttle.
Some people swear by XP Black, but we have found efedince that there is tampering that took place in the SSL driver and that makes me beleive that ecery XP Black installation endsup in a botnet some time or another.
Gaming on 7 is superior to XP. Performance is about the same (but W7 UI is vastly superior), and then there's the small matter of DirectX 11. Also GDI and User Object are extended and memory management is way better.
Windows 7 is an amazing improvement from Vista, and XP. Very high framerates, i get 74fps in Freelancer with an overclock, but set it back to 60fps and have NO issues at all, not even in IC.

Hi
You have to start your command prompt session 'As Administrator' ... there are certain areas that is 'protected' by the operating system and you need elevated permissions, even though you may be running the session as someone called 'administrator'
Also .. you first have to extract the ocx file out of the zip file before moving it to c:\windows\system32 directory.
You should not have to register the ocx when it's in that directory....
If you have problems doing these actions, I suggest you get a person that knows a little more about computers to help you do it, or do it for you.
My other suggestion, Dump Vista, and get windows 7 if you can.
Kind regards
Thanks mate, tried using the search but couldn't find anything.
Cheers.

Look in the downloads section of this forum.
There you will find a utility to manage your IDs .
That way you can copy the ID between the two computers

Report back on SHS behaviour.....
I have had a very RP interaction with SHS today, and he had stressed the point that the interaction was RP.
I have agreed it's all RP and we did our thing.
Kind Regards
We also have players from Australia playing here and they are doing well. They have a bit higher ping compared to the players from other countries, but thats about it.
Interesting ... Wonder if anyone has their average ping values available
In South Africa, the best ping ever we got was 196 with an average ping of 253, and the game is definitely still very playable.
Kind regards
Hi
Inflct is also in New Zealand, and yes it is a 100% Role Play Server and is based in Germany.
EDIT
Like OP says below...people don't talk RP all the time, there are lots of friendly offtopic conversations and private conversations going the whole time, but most system chat messages are RP related.

Welcome to Crossfire Server.
I had the same problem you have iro bandwidth, and I actually had to get a 'connection' (friend) to download CF1.8 for me and then send to me on dvd so I can install.
Maybe someone here can do the same for you, depending on where you live.
The number count of active 'online' players are normally less than 50, making it easy to keep track of who is who and what they are doing , but as mentioned previously, I also expect cf1.9 to push up the number count.
I also supect that about 20-25 players are not in game but performing logistical clan related work at the same time.
Kind regards
Hi
I am not sure if it is just my crossfire toolbar on windows 7 x64 ( i think i have the lates), or if this is a general problem.
On the 'CF Clan Forums Menu' section, when I select the PX main Site option, I get sent to http:////http://.zumreden/site/ which is obviously not the intention.
All other Clan links seems to work.
I was not sure if you guys are aware of this..
Kind regards
this is so cool
Thanks for sharing

The best practice I have found to learn to decently work with guns is agaianst the IC aliens.
DO take on the Light fighter wings and the Medium fighter wings by yourself.
Best way to learn how to dodge and still take down opponents with guns only.
I can definitely see the more damage my guns do during dogfights than before after a few sessions in IC.
I am happy with the current weapons, but obviously ywould love to see VHF loadouts improve just to make things easier ...
What I would love to see improve though, is trading for non-BMG (Police Legal) once in a while.
So far I have monitored trading the last two weeks and it seems that BMG trading goes as high as 3M - 4M per load while Legal Police Trading only goes as hign as 300 -400K per load. (400 -500 items)
The Server Rules says ... 'It is the intension to have BMGs only available to players with a smugglers licence mounted'
Kind Regards
That should work for you as well....
Maybe disable your AV program for those two directories while installing ??

Hi
Anything underneath Program Files is protected.
Do NOT install there. If you install there, the CF startup program cannot access al lthe files to replace them.
Best install is c:\freelancer...when installing the CD
then Install FLMM also under c:\FLMM
then extract CF download and
then Install CF with FLMM.
Works every time for Vista and Windows 7

Very well put AbrasDevil.
I have had lots of fun with both parties in game, and am sad to see the extend that the disagreement has reached.
I agree, at conflict with each other, we need to step back and review, as we will always have cultural differences from different countries, and even from the same country there are different viewpoints.
When I feel I am harassed, I switch to a different Char and let the person doing the harasment , play by himself / with himself. Maybe some others should do the same, and not take out anger and frustration of the moment on each other.
It's not good loosing a player (any player) on the server as it makes the rest of us left behind, that much poorer for loosing the Interaction and RP.
Please shake hands (or kiss - what ever the preference) and put it behind and RP with us.
Kind regards
with wrasys arawnd triz are usles
ones was good to have them but now it is beter to kave full warsys (for shild melting or full coals for hull busting)
i prefer the coals, it is easyer to aim with them : >
I agree ... I had 4 war'sy on Pers and i could not aim, replaced two with gatlings and I get much better results.
War'sy to bust shields and both to take out hull .. works like a charm ... AND ... they are different types for shields...
I would also love to see a dogfight where missiles and torps are kept to the minimum.
Kind regards
