It is never as simple as "role play" OR "PVP".
It's about using your brain. You have to know where things are. Where YOU can hide, and where HE can ambush from.
Sun Tzu: Know your enemy as you know yourself. Observe and learn.
PVP is a gamble. You place your bet when you think you can win. If you think you can't, you get as far away from the table as possible. Simple.
If players are getting "jumped" every time they log-on, that's not healthy. Might be fun for you, but folks get sick of that. The rules say "Lvl 40, blah, blah..." Use common sense.
PVP in role play is fun, if it's not over done. Fun is the goal. Not player stats.

    I really did try.
I worked an honest career. Didn't take any bribes or kickbacks. I took my (meager) pension an tried to settle down.
At first, I thought I'd try farming down in Stuttgart. That lasted all of about a year. Then, It was back to the trades, working with my hands. I repaired drilling lasers for the Miner's Guild. Next, I tried steady work processing shipments for the GMG.
Luxury food, rocks or gas. It was all just a diversion for me.
I got bored, and began to drink and gamble... real bad. Did some stuff both illegal and immoral. What few friends I had left wouldn't answer their comm links. I was so low. I really thought about an early check-out.
I remember I woke-up in some back alley in Edinburgh, just rolled by some young Mollys. I saw an ad in the Bretonia Times adverting some used cryotubes for sale. Suddenly, I felt tired. I felt like taking a nap. A long one. So I did.

So, here it is, many years later. I'm defrosted, and having a look around.
It's the same mess it's always been. Smugglers, pirates and other assorted vermin running rampant. The cops and military are overworked, and sometimes not even trying. Who can blame them? All the major houses are corrupt. The corporations step on the little guys. No one sticks their neck out. No one stands for anything.

Well, I'm bored. And I'm stirred-up. I don't have the reflexes I once had, but I am getting back in the saddle. I should have been dead a long time ago. I don't have much to lose.
When I was with the Crossfire Police (CFPD), there were WAY too many rules. I'm playing by my own rules now.
You might see me out there. Or, maybe not. I like to just hang back. I might be in a transport, or some Starflier. If you're a scum-sucking criminal, I'll be watching you. And I might not be alone.
I never paid for all my sins. But the least I can do is make you pay for yours.

I'm here in Washington State, U.S., and my ping is sky high (160, if I remember).

However, I rarely get a Yellow Lag warning, and almost never see Red Lag. Sometimes, my son gets on the same connection to the server and we share bandwidth. Again, no problem.. Granted, I haven't been in any hairy, missile spamming PVP yet. But when I'm jumped by six or more Nomads, It's smooth.

Another server in North America would be nice, but from my perspective, totally unnecessary.

Been gone a while. I used to fly with CFPD as Interdictor. I'm gonna freelance for a while & doubt I'll clan-up again soon. In the meantime, just treat me like any other noob. Cya out there.

    Thank you.

I was afraid someone would mistake my sarcasm for ignorance.

Dropping CMs is a lazy person's alternative to actually flying.

    Boy, has this gone off-topic...

Y'know, the most attractive ship I fly has a cockpit view full off bats, bots, missles and assorted debris along with the other guy's death console message at the bottom.

Whatever ship I fly that gits er done is beautiful. If it looks like a rusty, dented soup can, who cares?

Seriously, I have a few fighters, each strong in it's own way. The trick is don't bring the wrong tool to the wrong job.

Of course, The Shroud is one of them. If you own only one, it's an excelent choice. But like Gunny said, you'd better have permission.

Or plan on running. A lot.
