Hmm. Tried it a 6th time. This time the battleship and mothership glitched and never showed up. However, I got the trigger for "now dock with the gate", and completed the Crossfire mission.

Sadly, I can't access any of the X-3043 gates at this time. They're all dead, as in you can't dock with them. Will try it in Open SP to see if it's a permanent glitch or something I can work around.

    [edit:
Open SP doesn't fix the problem. I can't access any of the gates in X-3043 to get to other systems.
I'm giving up on the Crossfire mod. The graphics are great, yes. Kudos to the developers. Sadly, their idea of "level design" leaves a lot to be desired. Happy for them that so many people love the thing. Personally, given my recent experience with the single player campaign, it was painful. Exceedingly so, even for someone as stubborn as I am.

This bug is just the straw that breaks this camel's back. I'll go explore some other mods that provide extra content without being so annoying. I'd make suggestions for improvement, but reading forum posts shows that the developers really think they can do and have done nothing wrong. Ever. About anything. So goodbye. Congrats, you trolled me for a lot of hours.

    :tot:

You may have to redo from last mission save

I have done this 3 times now. I've killed the battleship and mothership 4 times. I've travelled the long distances 4 times. And *nothing* seems to trigger the event after king and juni travel through the gate. Anyone have any clues?

I've put up with enough wasted time on this campaign due to insanely long travel distances to eat a full meal (at my computer), have more than a couple of beers (Holsten, von Hamburg {not the planet}. Ist zehr gut.), and finish 2 chapters of the book I'm reading. Not being able to actually FINISH the single player campaign is... annoying.

    @driftwolf

in mod package is link which lead here to portal FAQ, where are given pretty detailed instructions how to activate CF 2.0 (and keep yourself from problems). You for example can find there also info, that is not needed install any patch.

I was under the impression that this is the Freelancer forum, not the Crossfire mod forum. I was responding to someone having trouble running, to my understanding, vanilla Freelancer. OP mentioned that it was "in preparation" for the Crossfire mod. Not the mod itself.

I too had several issues trying to get this game to work under Windows 7. Without mods. Which is why I responded, since the "delete the Freelancer directory" wasn't something I would have thought of if I hadn't found one mention of it somewhere else.

Problem with Mission 43, where we're to evacuate the black hole system.

Mission reminder says "let juni and king dock with the gate".

So I do. They take the gate, they vanish from the system.

Then... nothing. If I take the gate, they aren't on the other side. If I wait (15 minutes so far) nothing happens.
When I launched into space I was careful to follow the prescribed path (been caught out by that before - no shortcuts allowed). But so far, nothing.

Well, Id assume that players which played the mod in all the years had fun even without any extra tools.

I don't try to assume what others enjoy. I said "from my perspective" and that's exactly what I meant. I know that some people enjoy the necessary paperwork, or just play in such a way as to avoid it. Heck, 30 years ago I was playing "universe simulation" games that required that kind of paperwork and I know I enjoyed it then. Personally, and from my perspective, I just don't enjoy it now, which I why I was using such tools in the first place.

Back when these tools were created I convinced the developers to include code that prevents these tools to work with mods where such tools are considered "cheats".
FLcompanion was the first that included a fuction which simply crashes the tool if its used with a protected mod.
Datastorm a bit later also included a somewhat different protection.
Freelancer Trade Route Calculator delivers to a large amount false data.

They work on other unprotected mods... but they dont work here.

I see. So even in single player I'm going to have to spend the extra hours building my own lists.
OK then. I guess if it gets too onerous I can always just go play with another mod.

From my perspective, I play a game to have fun, not to spend extra hours on the same kind of tedious paperwork I'd do at my paying job. However, I'll see if I can ignore that in this case, just to get to the extra missions.

    Thanks for the reply.

Lovely mod so far, even if it is making me go through the first 13 missions so that I can get to the Crossfire content.

However, does anyone know of any trade route tools that actually work with the Crossfire mod? I was playing with the following with "vanilla" Freelancer, but when I try to use them with Crossfire all hell breaks loose.
Freelancer Trade Route Calculator kind of works but is still having lots of problems, and returning next to nothing in many cases.
Freelancer Companion just crashes hard on startup.
Datastorm just pukes error messages all over the place, and doesn't understand the new systems. I have a feeling they hardcoded something they shouldn't have.
    and so on.

Anyone know of a trade route calculator that works with Crossfire? Or of a way to make the above work with Crossfire?
Or am I going to have to back to making my own spreadsheets? Which is not something I really enjoy.

    thanks.

    Greetings,

Ad1 its ok, this is how it works. It upgrade also dynamic economy so its the same as in multiplayer. For SP you can use "no" and will have economy the same all the time.
Ad2 during mod activation you can disable game intro. But now you simply press ESC and it bypass all movies
Ad3 hmm, looks as personal preference, never had issue with this. You can be first one reporting this.

OK, thanks for letting me know. I must have missed the "skip intro" option when I activated the mod. No big deal.

    New Crossfire 2.0 installation.

    Two minor issues:
Minor Issue 1: when I start the "single player" campaign from the crossfire launcher, it ALWAYS says there's an update available and downloads 10 files.
Minor Issue 2: I start game, choose "single player", it tries to play ALL the movies again.
Minor Issue 3: The mouse registration is off in the Freelancer Launcher. So when I think I'm clicking "load game" I'm actually clicking "Start new game". The mouse pointer on the screen is a cm or two below where the program thinks it is. Confusing!!

Suggestions? I've searched the various forums but came up empty. If this is already answered elsewhere I'm all ears.

    Here's what I did on Windows 7 64-bit:

    - run install SETUP.EXE "As Administrator"
    - clean install of Freelancer to C:\Games\Freelancer
    - run Freelancer loader - set options to "3D sound" off.
    - try to run Freelancer. Crashes when I try to load "new game".

    2nd try:
    - clean install of Freelancer (running things "as administrator" as much as possible.
    - installed patch 1.1 from Starport site.
    - still crashed until I did the following:
    - *** important - game only started working when I did this *** Delete entire "My Documents"\My Games\Freelancer directory.
    - run freelancer loader - turn off 3d sound.
    - running freelancer gives me error about it doesn't know about my graphics card. No, it wouldn't, my card came out about a decade after the game did. Turn off error.
    - Works. Mostly. I got some glitches when going to equipment rooms in Kusari space - seems to reboot the graphics card. Weird, but I can put up with it. Finished the original plot anyway, which was my goal.

Unfortunately, what worked for me might not work for you. Such is the way of software.
