If you escape then you escape. If we scan you and see you are carrying the cargo, you had better get rid of it before you get within range of our guns. If you happen to get rid of it before we catch up to you we can do little with no hard evidence. It will have to wait until next time.
and yes, officers take the occasional bribe. Everyone has their price. There is noone currently on CF that could afford to bribe any of the current CFPD officers though.

no, i say we leave it as is... If you want to pick up a license then do so. If you do not then dont. Personally, i plan to pick up a few but leave some open for ASF license. Just switch ships for ASF CSF battles. Of course mine will be the police license so I can advertise without worry...
Hmmmm unless pirates start taking out bounties on police officers......................
-
Another thing that could use a good definition...
What exactly are we defining illegal cargo as?? Should it be all items that are BM? Should it be only certain items? What abt Cardamine? No BM on that but it is still illegal i believe. Do we begin stoppinjg EVERYBODY that goes through New London cause we all know they have BM goods headed for Sol?

Greetings Spirit. Yes I have seen that you carry a pirate license. It is your choice to do so. I am merely stating we should not FORCE anyone to get one. If you WANT to get one, cool, great, more power to you
If you want to run a smuggler license while you are a pirate, great, cool. The only thing i would take exception to would be running a police license while pirating.
-
hmmmmm I think that is what i just said...
-
I am thinking that the labels that are currently applied ie..[X] are fine. But when one needs to buy additional licenses to advertise they are a pirate I say no.
-
CFPD is no longer taking fines to my understanding Wavey. Therefore it is drop your cargo and leave or we will drop your cargo for you.
-
heh, i go back and forth about this subject with one of my fellow CFPD'ers. If a pirate wants to carry a license that says, "HEY, IM A PIRATE, COME SHOOT ME!!" then so be it. But if they want to play their part and take their chances with the police then thats cool too.
I do know that CFPD cannot sit at NB or Stutgart and wait for all the people to come in and out with their trains because they are worried abt the pirates.
We will go kill the pirates that are attacking but we cannot baby sit. Once we chase the pirate out of the system we are done until the next complaint agains t the pirate.
Now...do i think a pirate is going to actually listen to us and stay out of the system for an hour or whatever? Hell no. If I was a pirate as soon as the cops left I would be right back at it. It is the nature of the pirate. And I darn sure would not advertise if I were just a freelancer running pirate activities. the CFPD will eventually hear abt all the freelance pirates out there.

NP there Chief, I spent 30 years with a Conservation officer for a father
I dont claim to know everything but I do remember everything he drilled into my brain.
As for 1. they can stop you at any time. You and I both know there are dozens of different reasons they can use to pull you over. The same with a search (gee that cigarette but looks an awful lot like a joint). you may say it will not hold up in court and that may be true but there are always ways around things. As an ex-officer you know that as well as anyone.
I speak to number 3 only from a CO duties as i do not claim to know the police part of anything else. He has the power to take anything related to the offense. A judge MAY give it back or he may not. It is the officer that does the actual taking. I cannot count how many guns, boats, trucks, 4 wheelers, boats, jet skis, deer carcasses, decoys, tree stands, etc... that my father has taken from offenders, brought to the house then turn them in. Then come home and tell us how much they went for in a gov't auction a few months later.
on Number 4, i agree, the officer cannot make you pay the fines, the judge does that, but when you dont pay them guess who comes back out and hauls you back in... lol
8. Undercovers are the exception and I am not at liberty to say whether CFPD has undercover agents... [wink2]

OK, there seems to be a lot of trouble with the licensing of all the people in the game. As a member of the Crossfire Police Department I am proud to carry a police license
...However...
I do not believe in "Branding" pirates or Mercs or any other faction in the game. We want to role play...OK cool but remember your roles here peeps. My role is a cop, i am easily identified as a cop I do cop things, I carry a badge, I eat doughnuts...
Pirates...hmmm ever really seen a real pirate??? (not counting Jonny Depp)...No???? guess what, that is because they dont carry a little sign that says "hey, im a pirate" Same with mercs.
Feel free to express opinions here but no flames please.

Just a heads up here. I know a lot of you guys out there are not US residents so I will try to explain how we see the police(or at least how i see them)
"Real police"
1. Can stop you at any time on the roads.
2. Can inspect your vehicle for illegal goods.
3. Can take; your vehicle, license, anything in the vehicle, and impound it to be sold at a later date in a gov't auction.
4. Will make you pay fines and costs.
5. Do sometimes become corrupt.
6. May take an occasional bribe.
7. Are not perfect, they make an occasional mistake.
8. Are always identifiable as Police officers, where the criminals are NOT always identifiable."CFPD"
1. Can stop you at any given time in the system.
2. Can inspect your ship for illegal cargo.
3. Cannot take your ship, license, other valuables that might be stored in your holds (if they do get tractored in, talk to the officer to see when you can get your property returned).
4. Cannot MAKE you pay fines, but can blow you out of the sky
5. Do sometimes become corrupt.
6. May take an occasional bribe.
7. Are not perfect, we make an occasional mistake.
8. Are always identifiable as CFPD, where pirates/mercs/traders/etc. are not always identifiable even though we know who is who for the most part.As far as RP goes, i think it is great. Just remember that the criminals are criminals for a reason. If you are a criminal and you get caught by the CFPD expect to lose the cargo, or be destroyed, (be glad we will not do all of it).
If there was a big sign over every criminal then there would be a hell of a lot less real crime.
Sorry this is just the ramblinbgs of someone with way to much time on his hands...

Got to love the APC.
loadout
4/4 Guns/Turrets (runs 2 class 9 and 2 class 7 turrets, 4 class10 guns)
m,cm,t
450 cargo
22100 armor (+or- a few points in there.)
etc... Best small freighter out there.Im going from memory here but it is definately a nice small cargo transport.
Worth the 10 mil it costs to buy and few mil to outfit.

I am RP police but i agree with Stoned.
The idea of a pirate is to score loot, however it is not unknown for pirates to attack first and look for loot after.
I expect attack from the Pirates at any time on the Server so if they attack I do not get mad abt it.
Those of you that are attacked by the pirates, that is what the RP police dept is for. We will hunt them down. We will eliminate the threat.
PS. REAL Pirates were never known to be honorable so if they go into NY...SO WHAT!!
(I am not saying any of the CF pirates are dishonorable so please dont flame me. Just that real life pirates had their own code and most looked on it without honor.)

I also notice this, except for me it is 9 PM est(4 pm. gmt). Then all hell breaks loose with the server crashes. However I have talked to others that say it crashes during the day also.
