I don't understand what the big deal is. The battleships, cruisers, and gunboats were underpowered in the first place. An entire broadside from a battleship isn't enough to cause hull damage to most VHFs; generaly speaking in RL, ships of any size take down aircraft with one or two shots. How are capships supposed to be an appealing option if they're on par with manueverable fighters in firepower (no offense meant; they're still awesome as is)? If not railguns, could it be possible to create a compromise between the railgun and standard defense turret?

I agree. And it's probably too late, but I was thinking that more than one variety of BS Defense turret would be nice. I like the ones we have now, don't get me wrong, but like pcforce said, it would be nice to have a bit more flexibility. Perhaps different colored weps with the same stats would fool us without you having to do a lot of work. :]

    Btw....cough, cough, railgun , eherm... :D

I never said we were alone. On the contrary, with water being discovered elsewhere in the solar system, the odds of it existing elsewhere are nearly absolute. Doubtless there is life teeming all over the place (if you ignore the fact that space itself isn't, really). We should really be asking ourselves, "is there other intellegent life in the universe". I would think this, too, is likely, but then another question arises: "How do we locate and reach out to them, and are we going to, as a race, survive on this world long enough to do that?" (don't mean to be pessimistic, but if you think about how often people have been close to wiping themselves out with nuclear weps over the last fifty years, the thought of lasting thousands more sounds a little stressful, to say the least) :D

Either way...there will always be Strogg...he seems somewhat intellegent. :P

Ok, now I'm starting to catch on ;)

Informercial scams; they're funnier and don't involve ogling a stacked, rolling folds of, well, you get the picture. :D

    Hiking or cross-country skiing?

The highest non-infinite number I know is nine hundred and ninety-nine decillion (not sure if the spelling's right), nine hundred and ninety-nine nonillion (or something somewhat like that, I don't have this number memorized, you know :D ), nine hundred and ninety-nine octillion, nine hundred and ninety-nine septillion, nine hundred and ninety-nine sextillion, nine hundred and ninety-nine quintillion, nine hundred and ninety-nine quadrillion, nine hundred and ninety-nine trillion, nine hundred and ninety-nine billion, nine hundred and ninety-nine million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine (gasp for breath). I would add the nines after the decimal point, but it would take to long to type out.

    In a numeral: 999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999
(I wish my horde's net worth in euros could be this big)

You forgot a question on your original post, so I'll ask a new one: freighter or fighter?

I could be held liable for an invasion of cyborg-aliens...and loosing NB really sucked, so....

    How about cyborg-aliens invade NB?

    Funky or sweet?
