    [a translation of my X manual]


    This is the story of the ultimative dream.



    A dream of mankind... a dream of breaking the borders of our own planet. A dream if freedom in our own universe. A dream of reaching the stars.


    The first border was the gravity. The first destination of the human race was the moon. And soon giantic rockets broke though this border.


    It didnt last long until we stood infront of the next border - then speed of light. Many years passes until these genious Scientists developed the jump gate. Theses jump gates gave spaceships the possibility to travel many millions of lightyears with just one single jump.


    The mankind now was able to dicover the systems and the galaxies.


    The colonisation of the planets wasnt easy. Different types of livingspace, waste grounds and the transport of the materials made the contruction of the colonies extremely difficult and expensive. And again the scientists found a solution for this problem. They developed a powerful robot to terraform these planets and create colonies.


    As the Terraformers end their work the colonies were ready and new life in these colonies was possible now. Over time the mankind spread over many systems. But at the same time the Terraformers developed an own form of intelligence - they start to think.


    They started to plan a resurrection against their creators...
    With an unexpected attack they started the most destructivest war of all times. The widespread colonies of the humans were not prepared for such a war and many of them were destroyed with the first attacks. The Terraformer didnt need long to plan the final attack against the humans - the attack on the earth. Only a small group of brave pilots under the command of Nathan R. Gunna was able to save the earth. They decoyed the souvereign Terraformer-fleet to a hidden jump gate. Both fleets disapeared and the gate was destroyed.


    It took more than 500 years for the mankind regain the power and during this time they wasnt able to leave earth. But the dream was still alive. Ten generations of scientists worked hard to find a solution to reach the stars again and then they build a new type of spaceship. This ship is know as the Xperimental shuttle or the X-prototype. It is the first ship that should be able do interstellar travels without any jumpgates.


    The prototype is ready for his first flight

    After the tests of the shipsystems the X-Shuttle started his jumpengines and a jumphole appeared and the adventure started.



    The jump was successful but where the destination was unknown. The pilot wake up in a system that he never saw. The jumpengine was damaged. Big Stations, curious ships... and now the communication-system shows a contact. A non human contact. It was a race called Teladi (a race of traders). He was surprised about that ship but he wasnt surprised to see a human. He told about a race that looks like humans but its called Argons. This Teladi lend me some credits and now it was time to find out whats going on. The Teladi-space was a damn good place to trade and make fast money so i stayed there for a while. I heard alot of the know space and of a confederation. Its members where the Teladi, the Split, the Argons, the Borons, the Paranids and there was another race... and extremly destructive race - the Xenon. After the pilot had enough money and some own stations he decided to find out who this Argons are so he set course to the Argon-territory. He found the homeworld of the argons and a strong fleet and these Argons were Humans. The government of Argon Prime didnt help but a guy contacted him. He told him that he is a "Goner" that is a religious part of the Argon empire. And now he told about the history of his ppl. A history that reached 500 years back. Hmmm 500 years?... 500 years ago there was the war against the Terraformer. Now the story became interesting. Nathan R. Gunne disapeared with his fleet and the Terraformer-fleet in the hidden jumpgate and destroyed it on the other side. Now the Terraformers couldnt reach the earh anymore but the fleet of Gunne also had this problem. His heavy damaged fleed could reach a small planet before the ships could b destroyed. This was the birth of the Argon empire (now it should b clear that Argon = R. Gunne). But whats with the Terraformer? They are still there... they are know as the Xenon and they are still a threat. Some of the Argon spies found out that the Xenon found something in their territory - the old jump gate to earth. And now they started to repair it. Some1 have to stop them and guess who is guy is... our hero from the earth. His aim: contact all races and create a big fleet to destroy the Xenon. Well he did it and led the fleet against the xenon but the gate to the earth is lost.


    [this was the end of X1]
    Now the xenon are no threat anymore but the X-shuttle isnt able to return to earth anymore... so the scientist of the argon empire started to repair the jumpengine. Now the time has come to return to earth and start a new area of diplomacy. The X-shuttle started his jumpengine and a jumphole appeared... but 1 second later the ship appeared on the same place where it left the argon-space. The jump failed.
    Now all races of the confederation sent scientists to help the argons and they started their work on the ship (but this could need weeks or months). So this pilot of the X-Shuttle asked the argons to give him a new ship so he can travel through the systems, visit old friends and have new adventures.

    and now its time for X2 and X2OL (the story of these games should be 25 years after the arrival of the X-shuttle)
