It just seems immersion breaking to me... that's all.

For the FEW custom voice lines in the campaign...why are they all made with a text to speech engine? It's by far the most immersion breaking thing ever. I get it that not everyone can do perfect English and you can't hire grade A voice actors, but the text to speech thing is just...bad.

Nephele's system theme.

Mmm, I don't have sound recorder and couldn't find any other software that converts it properly, but I will try to use one of those online sites you're talking about.
Thanks alot mate! Will be helpful if I want to make my own mod someday.

Alright, I've been spending the entire day and the only way that works is to use Windows Sound Recorder, which I DON'T HAVE.
SWAT, you clearly know how this works, can you PLEASE tell me how you can get files in a FL compatible format without Windows Sound Recorder?
-
I fixed it...somewhat. I encountered a slight problem however.
Freelancer makes the song loop back early for some reason.
-
Windows 10 does not have Windows Sound Recorder...but I think I fixed the issue anyway using VLC media player (thanks to SilverFox)
Edit: Nope. Cannot find the appropriate codec that Freelancer appearantly uses.
-
I learned that after doing some research. I also found this post on The Starport that had this to say:
"Freelancer stores the music in a 22kHz MP3 format. Note that the extension is .wav - however, the music is not in "wav format". To be correct, there is no such thing as a wav format. Wav is merely a container. Generally, what you would call a "wav format" is actually called PCM. The music files of Freelancer are MP3 files, in a wav container, using a 22kHz sampling rate, and the Fraunhofer codec. Yes, you will notice, that if you use some other mp3 codec (like LAME, which is the default of, for example, Audacity), FL will not play the music correctly. Also, I've been fiddling around with different versions of the Fraunhofer codec, and they don't seem to work correctly, either."
I was trying to do some research, but I cannot find ANY way to convert any file to the format that Freelancer uses. This is becoming pretty annoying, as I'm trying to make a music pack for a different mod... but I can't convert anything properly. Can you tell me what you did to compress these to a suitable format?

I have both of those, I just need to know how to compress it to such a small size. WITHOUT butchering the audio.
-
So, some of the tracks aren't hidden, such as the coalition space theme. I noticed however, that it is EXTREMELY small in size for a wav file, yet it sounds great and has a good bitrate. It's only 1.41MB, but when I import it and export it again in Audacity, it jumps to 15MB in size.
How did you accomplish this MASSIVE compression without losing audio? I want to know for future uses to keep my .wav files small but great sounding.

But, you have to give credit. You didn't make the material, and aren't giving credit to it. You're being serious about all this legal stuff regarding it, yet you refuse to give credit as to where the songs are.
Somewhat hypocritical, and too cautious.
You would rather be super paranoid about legal action because you use music in a FREE mod of a game that almost nobody hears about. Instead of telling people the names of this GREAT soundtrack, you do your best to stall and piss us off instead by being super fancy and encrypting all the files so we can't find them, and further refusing to give out the names of the tracks that you didn't make. You would be pissing off the artists more by not telling us the name of THEIR song, instead of just unintentionally causing piracy.
Welcome to the internet. I said I don't pirate music tracks, I buy them all on iTunes. I'm trying to make a fair purchase, and you're here giving me legal bullshit because you're some kind of legal eagle..
-
I imagine SWAT Operator sunk a lot of money into getting all this awesome, sexy music. But, why not credit what these titles are? Obviously, keep the files encrypted, as you don't want to distribute pirated music. But, you should still give credit where it's due for the music tracks.
Lots of people (like me) don't pirate things, we do the classic search on Bandcamp or iTunes and buy it there (it's higher quality that way).
Basically, I want the list of all these songs so I can mass-purchase these gems on iTunes
Thanks in advance mates.

So I have beaten the story, and gotten an/the ending (no spoilers). However, I noticed in the 2.0 update thread, there was this line:
"(In other words) the Crossfire 2.0 storyline has more than just one ending."
I have never figured out what this alternative ending is. And I want to know, BADLY. I have tried a lot of things, but can't figure it out. So, I just want to know.
In WHAT point(s) of the story (try to keep it as spoiler free as possible) must I make a decision that affects the outcome of the ending? Don't tell me DIRECTLY how, just WHERE.
Thanks!

I've redownloaded the installer three, if not four times already in a few days. The first time I used it, it ran perfectly. However, I goofed while installing it with FLMM and forgot to restart my PC after installing Freelancer. So the game crashed on startup. I deleted the FL installation and reinstalled, however every other time I tried to run the installer from then on, the thing either crashes after the swat logo appears, or it will barely start but there will be no text at all in the language drop down box, or anywhere else. In my opinion, this installer is a waste of time. A nice simple FLMM package would work just as good, maybe even better.
I use windows 8.1.
