Akella, publisher of the RPG Metalheart: Replicants
Rampage, issued a statement dennouncing the demo of the game which recently appeared in the
World Wide Web. The company claims it is not responsible for this illegal distribution at
all. The release is not an official demo-version and it appears to be an incomplete fragment
of a 2003-year game build flooded with various errors.
Akella offers a rather
confusing explanation for the demo's release which blames a frustrating misunderstanding
between the publisher and its partner that has mistakenly put the archive into the Web. The
situation is being discussed and taken care of right now.
Akella is determined not to
let these problems affect the game's release date which is still set for January 2005, as
previously announced.
Metalheart: Replicants Rampage is a tactical role-playing game
set on a deserted planet where the main characters find themselves after their spaceship
crashes. The game follows the paths of the old-school tactics/RPG classics, but adds new
unique features to the traditional gameplay. Metalheart: Replicants Rampage provides a
strong sci-fi story with intriguing cyberpunk influences, sophisticated turn-based combat,
random quest generator with the unbelievable tasks variations, a complex character parameter
system, and plenty of other wonders to make hardcore RPG fans amazed
Since the demo
is considered incomplete, the publisher has spent a lot of effort trying to get it off the
Web, claiming that the complete version will be completely different regarding the total
conversion of RPG system and many other aspects directly influencing the general game
concept itself.
The official site of Metalheart: Replicants Rampage is under
intensive construction, in preparation for the release of the official demo

Half-Life 2 is about to make the move to
arcades all over Japan by the summer of 2005, with the rest of the world expected to join-in
soon after. According to Taito, its Type-X arcade board will be able to support the game
while it will also offer a variety of features not seen before in arcade games.
The
Type-X board is based on a PC setup, running a version of Windows, so H-L 2 will not have to
travel far to get to it, especially since the arcade version will be very similar to the PC
version being released in a couple of weeks time. One of the selling points of the arcade
Half-Life 2 will be the introduction of the online multiplayer modes.
According to Taito,
gamers will be able to connect to and challenge other gamers playing the same game across
Japan. Two online modes will be available, the confrontational Battle mode and the
co=operative Mission mode. Online play will be made possible due to Taito's Net Entry
System (NETSYS)which will also feature in arcade games such as Battle Gear 3 and Zoid
Infinity. One of the advantages of NETSYS is its ability to store data at server level,
enabling gamers to recall their profile from any connected arcade machine.
Taito has
big plans for the arcade version of H-L 2, plans which include online play, a game booth
offering 5.1 sound and its introduction to arcades all over the world. Details of the
control set-up or of the exact dates the machines will appear in Japan and all over the
world, have not yet been released.
Aspyr Media and game developer Wideload Games unearthed
their upcoming game, Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel without a Pulse. Guaranteed to turn some
heads, this third-person action game is an original IP by Bungie Studio veterans that uses
an updated Halo engine to deliver the tale of one man's hunger for love, justice... and
brains. The game will be a cross-platform release, including Xbox, PC and Mac, and will be
published worldwide in summer, 2005.
In this game, players take on the role of the
rebel himself Stubbs, a wisecracking Zombie who takes on an ultra-modern city of the future
using nothing but his own carcass and the weapons of his possessed enemies. The game's
tongue-in-cheek humor, innovative combat and strong storyline keep Stubbs the Zombie's
gameplay as bizarre and unpredictable as its namesake.
On his quest, Stubbs lurches
his way through numerous large and visually captivating indoor/outdoor environments in and
around the gleaming city of Punchbowl, PA, a city built during the Eisenhower administration
to show off the ultra-futuristic technology of the 21st century. Stubbs' brain-eating
adventure brings him through bustling shopping districts and verdant farmlands to battle mad
scientists, rural militiamen and the world's deadliest barbershop quartet. His enemies have
shotguns, tanks, and all manner of futuristic weaponry. All Stubbs has is his own rotting
corpse, a distinct lack of pain or conscience, and the ability to turn foes into zombie
allies.
What begins as one zombie's search for revenge quickly escalates into an
all-out war between the living and the dead - but this time it's the zombie fighting for
truth, justice and the redemption of true love. Yes, it's a love story too.
As
Stubbs, you can:
- Play as a Zombie and give those unpleasant, violent humans a piece
of your mind...by eating theirs
- Destroy an entire city built with Bungie's Halo
Engine
- Use Zombie Strength to smash down doors and maul a wide variety of citizens and
armed defenders
- Spread Zombie Love by eating the brains of your enemies and adding them
to your own personal zombie horde
- Possess unsuspecting humans and use their weapons
against their friends
- Use Your Body as a Weapon in the deadliest offense ever:
explosive gut grenades, zombie sputum, a severed hand that can crawl through tight spaces
and possess the living, a head that doubles as an unholy bowling ball, and flatulence beyond
the ken of mortal men.
Technical features include an enhanced version of Halo's
graphic engine ith all new pixel shaders, new screen effects for an appropriately cinematic
look and feel, and a new AI system for the most keenly intelligent mindless zombies in the
history of video games.

The U.S. District Court for the
Western District of Washington has issued a temporary restraining order against the import
and sale of video game systems containing counterfeit versions of Nintendo games being sold
at numerous shopping malls.
In a major first step in its efforts to stop the sale of
infringing products throughout the United States, Nintendo of America filed the action
against two companies, its officers and employees after receiving tips from more than 400 of
its fans. In response to the specific court order, U.S. marshals will seize the counterfeit
systems at shopping mall kiosks in the western Washington area. In addition, Nintendo is
supporting numerous federal criminal investigations and U.S. Customs has seized tens of
thousands of the infringing devices upon their entry into the country, all of which are
assumed to be headed to malls across the United States for illegal sale.
The hundreds
of thousands of products in question look identical to Nintendo 64 controllers and plug
directly into televisions, allowing users to play dozens of illegally pirated Nintendo games
from the original Nintendo Entertainment System, such as Donkey Kong and Mario Bros.
Nintendo re-released many of these popular games, currently being pirated, as part of its
Classic NES Series, which allows its fans to play their favorite classic games on their Game
Boy Advance SP units. The bootleg products sell under the names Power Player, Super
Joystick, Superjoy and Powerjoy. As a result of the federal court order, Nintendo is urging
all mall management companies around the country to immediately close the kiosks selling the
illegal products.
This action is one of many steps Nintendo is taking to protect its
creative rights and to combat the growing international problem of product piracy, explains
Jodi Daugherty, Nintendo of America's director of anti-piracy. Nintendo won't tolerate
these illegal products, and is grateful to its devoted customers. We'll aggressively
protect the quality and integrity of the video game products our fans are so loyal
to.
Daugherty added, We're confident that mall management companies around the
nation will provide their complete cooperation upon being informed of the court's
decision.
Nintendo has information identifying kiosks distributing the illegal
devices in malls in more than 40 states. They are often set up outside of Nintendo's
legitimate retailers' stores. This is the largest piracy problem Nintendo has faced in the
United States. Nintendo is still calculating the extent of its losses, but expects it to be
in the millions of dollars, once the damage to both its reputation and the harm to
relationships with its established business partners have been quantified.
Ubisoft announced the signing of a new and exclusive
licensing deal with LucasArts to develop portable video games based on the upcoming Star
Wars : Revenge of the Sith movie. The title will be available on the new next-generation of
handheld consoles - Sony's PSP, Nintendo DS, as well on Game Boy Advance - and will launch
in conjunction with the movie in Spring 2005.
Developed by Ubisoft's Montreal
studio, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith on PSP, DS, and GBA will fully leverage the strengths
of each handheld platform. In their own unique way, each game will immerse players directly
into the most compelling and memorable moments of the movie to produce the ultimate Jedi
action experience! Multiple character control, devastating Force power and never-before-seen
locations are among the key elements that will impress handheld gamers.
As the new
handhelds are introduced to gamers and more titles begin to appear for both the DS and PSP
formats, it will be interesting to see who will gain the upper hand. We are told, in the
build-up to launch, that Sony's and Nintendo's handhelds are not in direct competition
since they will appeal to a different demographic. It is becoming obvious that friendly
co-existence is not an option and we expect the gloves to come off as launch approaches.
it wont be released in
the USA much earlier ....

and probes, such as buffer overflows and stealth port scans.
Application Layer --
Secure Component Integrity

authenticates application dynamic link libraries (DLLs), preventing hostile programs that
masquerade as authorized applications from compromising users data or
system.
Operating System Layer -- Secure Process Interactions
Sygate Personal
Firewall PRO is the first personal firewall that integrates meaningful operating system
layer protection, guarding the legitimacy of outbound traffic. Sygate Personal Firewall PRO
blocks any traffic generated before its own service starts up, eliminating the brief
security policy vacuum. Sygate Personal Firewall PRO can automatically terminate known
attacks such as Trojans, Denial of Service (DoS) Zombies. Sygate Personal Firewall PRO also
has defense mechanisms that prevent malicious code/and or users from disabling or exiting
the personal firewall.

When Full Spectrum Warrior was first released it was claimed
by Microsoft that it was a console exclusive for its XBox. THQ however, has announced that
FSW is coming to PS2 and should be ready before March 2005.
The announcement came as
part of the publisher's fiscal 2005 second quarter results. XBox owners may already have
been disappointed since they had to purchase maps that were included in the PC version of
the game but they can at least claim that they had the game long before anyone else got
it.
The PS2 version will. most probably, be a straight-forward port of the XBox game
and should include all the missions currently available for the game.
