Made an installation for single player only so I can mess around.
found out how to swap around character models after some tinkering. Just need to find out where them particle colors are..

Oh yes. Read it multiple times. Surely there must be a way to swap back to the original model by swapping out some files in the [CHARACTERS] folder? same goes for particles. I don't really fancy reinstalling the mod every time I wanna check out another awesome particle color

I've got a few questions of a somewhat technical nature though they are not actually what i would perceive as problems(hence i post them here)
I changed the font of the mod back to the original as I had problems reading the text and also changed back to the vanilla cross-hair since I couldn't see the modded ones half the time(are there any of them that don't get obscured by the background? I tried nr. 3+4)

I'm telling you this cause I want to give you an impression of the kind of player I am. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and when I can, I try to mod the game I'm playing until its perfect in my eyes. I'll spend days modding a game before even trying it! Its kind of annoying actually; sometimes i spend more time fiddling with stuff than actually playing it.

Anyway here it is. Love the game and what you devs of CF has done to it, but got some questions:
-I know I can reinstall the mod, but is there another way to change the character model? I thought the model i chose when installing was for MP and not SP. Right now my Trent is a guy with a mustache in a suit.... -Granted, its funny but not very immersive.
-Same question for particles, I chose the red ones- but who knows? Maybe Id like the yellow one better? Or maybe the Green or maybe the.......

-Before installing the mod I played vanilla a bit and in the starting cutscene where Trent is leaving the station there is some chatter from the woman that she is sending out fighters to escort people.
Not so in the CF version. Here its indistinguishable until the point where you see rockets hit the station. After that I can hear what they are saying just fine. Question is if this is intended or a bug with the sound I need to fix, so as I don't miss out on soundeffects later on in the campaign? I tried turning on/off 3D sound in options but it didn't change anything.

I read thru the FAQ and checked the server forums but didn't see my questions answered. Maybe its because its obvious don't know really so here it goes.

- I was wondering where the server is located? (please say somewhere in EU!)
-Whats this ID thing? I know you need 1 to play in multiplayer from the FAQ but how do you get it? do you need to somehow sign up to play on the server?
-RP is obligatory right? so how or who does everyone else know if ur a Pirate, policeman or whatnot. By your actions? or is there some kind of ingame system that makes it obvious? Or u have to declare it in chat?

Reason I'm asking is that i don't want to join the server and then get immediately banned for not having an ID,
or killing the guy flying towards me in a threatening posture when all he wanted was to sell me some nice flavored ice cream(with tasty m&m's on top).

I guess im coming to the same conclusion. Not sure why it only affects this specific file(not even the earlier version of the mod) on all the mirrors i tried on moddb and this site though.It doesn't make sense.

I could but I'd like to check another source than the one here and on mddb first. Though there seems to be none.

Tried downloading from another computer(my laptop, same network though) and its the same result. File either doesn't work or the download hangs at 99,9% in all browsers.
Please, can someone give me a direct link i can use in a download accelerator or if a kind soul could use HJ-split or something and split the files or pack them or whatever you prefer and upload them for me. As it stands it simply doesn't work for me.
Oh ye also checked my drives with chkdsk and it was fine.

I don't know how to download the file with a download manager as there is no direct link to it. Only a Download
button. If you have one I'd love to try that out...Couldnt get it to work with either flashget or JDownloader.

Tried downloading the moddb file and the one here on the site with Opera, IE and firefox...

Ill try it again with firefox as you suggested though just for the heck of it

Edit2: tried downloading CF 1.82 to check if its my browser/computer/connection that fucks up the file and it worked fine...how can it NOT be the file the sever has provided thats causing the problem...?

Trying to install croosfire 1.9 i keep getting the same error,

[/fehlerbox] I'm assuming this means the file is not complete. Thing is I downloaded the bloody thing 6 different times in 3 different browsers and same error. Going crazy here
And before anyone suggests using a download manager tell me how? all i can find is a weird link that where the true download location is hidden. Tried using both Jdownloader and flashget but none of them could find the real download link!
If someone could supply a download link which is usable in either JDownloader or flashget please do so...
