  • Basic Rules, Tips and Tricks For Beginners?

    I am after a bit of help also. I have been trading and fighting corporal- sergeant level baddies to get some cash and bought myself a Titan from Tarsus.I noticed lots of other top VHF but the Titan seems to be the strongest. It is also about 8 million cheaper than ships like the Shroud, Werewolf, and so on. Why are these ships so massively expensive when the Titan which seems about as strong (if not more) is 10 times as cheap?


    I also saw battlships for sale for about 49 million. If you buy one can you still do the same things as with other ships (ie, sell things, got jobs at the bar etc)?


    The area I need help with the most is in dog fights. Killing low level NPCs with my titan and the level 10 guns I found on wrecks isnt a problem but I cant really keep up with them. I actually thik that this might be due to my mouse sensitivity which never feels right and my laptop in general. Anyway, when dog fighting top level ships and NPCs that zig zag all over, I cant ever keep on them for a second to unleash the big guns. Any tips on fighting the top NPCs. I am sure I can grind away at them for ages until they have used up all their bots and shields but there must be some tricks of the trade.

  • Starting out in the world of Crossfire

    Thanks a lot for the advice and the welcome.


    I am not a total newcomer to Freelancer. I bought the game when it came out in 200? and completed it then. I went back to it a few years later and did it again. I am really looking forward to exploring a much expanded universe.


    Regarding the installation and selection of "open single player". Do I have to do a full unistall and reinstall? Or, do I deselect the mod in the mod-manager and then reload it?


    I am not bothered about missing the original freelancer missions but if I install the open single player game, do I also miss out out on the new CF missions / story?

  • Starting out in the world of Crossfire

    Greetings all. I have just downloaded the mod and it started working fine.


    It starts me off at the beginning of Trents story with meeting Junko and going into space to watch the battleship get blown up and then battle some baddies with that King guy.


    The enemy ships take so long to kill that I gave up. It wasnt a matter of skill, it was a matter of patience (probably a bit of skill actually as well). But shouldnt skill develop through out a game, not be required in the first outing?


    I tried to upgrade my weapons but as I am level 0 all I can get is the Justice MK2 and another MK2 shield buster one. It takes ages to kill one ship and I lose the will to live before I can get through them all. Is there a way to bypass the first mission with King so I can go and trade and get to a level where I can buy some decent stuff to be able to kill an enemy before my 70th birthday?
