Ubisoft has announced that it has decided to
release all platform versions of the highly anticipated Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos
Theory simultaneously in March 2005.
This marks a change from the usual SC policy which
has seen Sam Fisher surfacing on PC and XBox first with all other versions taking a few
months longer.
It is not clear why Ubisoft has decided to follow the simultaneous
route since the company will not comment but the easiest explanation is that delays in
development have delayed the PC and XBox versions enough to justify such a move. Another
possible explanation has to do with hardware manufacturers and their desire to see titles
released first on their consoles, such rumours don't seem very likely however, when
considering that SC : Chaos Theory will miss the lucrative holiday season.
There is
also, of course, the official explanation which states that : Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is
based on some truly astounding design concepts. It's graphics are extraordinary, the way it
handles co-op is amazing, and it's new gameplay dynamics could take the stealth genre
further than we'd ever hoped. Considering all of this, the delay makes perfect sense. The
game deserves that extra love and
attention...
