Sammy Studios released a
provocative image of Tala, uncensored version available inside, created exclusively for a
pictorial in the October issue of Playboy Magazine. A pivotal character in Darkwatch, the
upcoming Vampire-Western first-person shooter (FPS) video game, Tala bares more than her
fangs in the mens magazine spread dedicated to sexy video game leading ladies.
What
is it about female vampires that gets male fantasies going, how is it that the fear of an
extreme hickey and eternal damnation is not enough to keep men away from a well-endowed
woman. I will concede that game developers do tend to give such heroines a shapely figure
but that brings us to my next point, they are NOT REAL.
I can accept that the image of
the vampire women attempting to devour a poor mortal in Dracula was appealing but those
women were, to some extent, real, they were not the creation of some bespectacled,
sock-n-sandal wearing, good-grade-getting programmer.
The blame lies squarely with
Lara Croft, once she made it acceptable to drool over computer-generated body parts, other
heroines begun misplacing their clothes. Soon the combination of danger and beauty
captivated gamers, with Bloodrayne rearing her ample and lethal bosom. Now Sammy Studios,
the creators of Darkwatch, clearly not content with Tala's in-game revelations, have
allowed her to appear in the October issue of Playboy showing-off her considerable
arsenal.
The revealing image, capturing her dangerous sensuality as a half-vampire
seductress of Native American descent, is the work of Sammy Studios in-house team of
artists working in conjunction with Brain Zoo Studios of Van Nuys, California. The image
appears in a pictorial accompanying the article Gaming Grows Up in Playboys upcoming issue,
hitting newsstands this month. Darkwatch is slated for release on the PlayStation 2 and the
Xbox in spring 2005.
Tala plays an important role in Darkwatch as a femme fatale with
equal lusts for blood and power. Gamers assume the role of Jericho Cross, an outlaw
gunslinger pulled into the ranks of a vampire-hunting secret society when he is
inadvertently bitten by a vampire lord.
Sensuous and dangerous, Tala becomes Jerichos
evil muse after luring him into a moment of passion where she urges him to bite her, making
her into a powerful half-vampire like himself. Introducing a unique reputation judgment
system that brings a role-playing game (RPG) element to an FPS, Darkwatch puts players in
situations where they can
overcome the evil flowing in Jerichos veins to save the
American West from damnation, or succumb to it and join Tala in a reign of darkness.
