Activision has
confirmed that Call of Duty : United Offensive, the expansion to the extremely successful
and thoroughly enjoyable CoD, has gone gold. This announcement makes the title's September
14 release date, very realistic.
Grey Matter Studios, the developers who took over
from Infinity Ward for the expansion, claim that United Offensive will add 13 new missions
and 11 new multiplayer maps.
Each of the multiplayer maps can be played in one of
three different modes, Domination, Capture the Flag or Base Assault.
In Domination
there are five points on the map that need to be secured by your team. The classic
capture-the-flag mode is also present. In Base Assault each team has one fortified base to
defend and one to attack. Victory can only be achieved by the use of heavy artillery and
tanks. Much of the success of United Offensive, will depend on how popular this mode can
become.
If you were one of the fans of Call of Duty you are, no doubt, expecting this
expansion to breathe fresh life to the original. Has Grey Matter managed to create an
engaging game while retaining the cinematic feel and frantic pace of the original? We will
soon find out.
