  • Ok, so, I sucessfully installed crossfire, and was playing mp. Some one was trying to help me out, said they checked my profile and something was wrong with it, and that I should relaunch to try to fix it. Docked, tried to relaunch, and nor I'm getting "problem starting multiplayer... [E5]". Here is everything I did to install, and what I've tried to do to fix this.

    1)installed Freelancer from disk
    2)installed fresh FLMM 1.31
3)Installed fresh Crosfire Client version 1.82 into flmm folder
4)activitated Crossfire mod, and did not activate any other mod
5)after the error occured the first time, I turned off "read only" on my freelancer directory

If someone could help, that would rock.

  • Sometimes, for unknown reasons, when Freelancer shuts down or crashes, Windows does not release the program exe [it's still runs as a process]. Simply open Task Manager, go to the process tab, find Freelancer.exe and end the process manually. It can stay locked in the process for hours and hours...even through a reinstall.

  • you can get similar errors from SP too, just use the same solution before looking deeper for another solution :D i think that if you search the E# code in the search bar above you may find the descriptions of all the error codes ;)
